wow. I appreciate this a lot. I just have to get into a routine. Now that I am home from college I am not worried about eating healthy(it is pretty hard at college). I am going to be working 70 hours every 2 weeks doing semi-manual labor(a lot of lifting and moving around, but it is not exactly strenuous). I hope I have the motivation after work to make it to the gym at least 4 times a week.

Also definitely gonna take your advice on pretty much just drinking water. At college I found myself drinking about 3 glasses of soda a day. That's about 500 wasted calories right there.

Yea college was all wings and subs for me too. I loved it ha. Soda was tough to drop but you'll notice the benefits soon after you do. Good luck man!

Started p90x last week. Gotta get my eating under control again. I passed the 1-year no smoking mark last week too.

That **** works. TerryTate and I have both done it. I do a hybrid version of that now and my own workouts, but it's fundamentals are solid.

My view is personal health is 85% diet, 15% workout, but like many have stated before, it is all about getting in a habit. Once you break your bad ones, the good ones become second nature. Not even that, but thinking about soda / fast food / etc. makes you slightly sick. You simply feel better eating well proportioned, healthy meals.

My hat's off to anyone dedicated to bettering themselves during their life. I truly feel that feeling good about yourself is paramount in life, and a thread like this, in a forum like this, is an incredible support system to those seeking to do something they had been thinking about who perhaps didn't have an outlet to voice it / strengthen it before.

How's everyone holding up? I hope you're all enjoying your summer.

I haven't got to my goal of under 170, I'm still sitting around 175. It's not for a lack of exercise, but I just come home at go HAM on food after a long day of work, eating well, and exercise. It's a bad habbit, I know.

Anyways, I broke a rib on Saturday from tubing behind a boat. My first broken bone, so I can't complain. To try to lose weight or at least maintain, I'm going to try to eat 2,000 calories or less until I'm healed and can exercise.

No breakfast (just coffee), lunch at noon, then going to TRY to eat one decent meal when I get off work around 4:30pm. Here goes nothing.

Congrats! How much better do you feel? Overall, I've lost about 15, and I feel 1,000 times better.

I'm down about 15 since the start of June. I'm doing some therapy for my shoulder, bicep tendonitis, and hope to return to crossfit next week.

Diet ...doing OK, but I slip up from time to time. I've gained some back, but overall about 45 lbs down from when we started this thread.

I'm most disappointed about my exercise habits.....gotta get back on a schedule.

Im not an expert by any means and ive never really tried to lose weight just lifting and trying to put on muscle mass. But from what ive read and the way i understand getting a good breakfast is pretty inportant because it gets your metabolism started for the day. Once your body goes overnight without food and misses breakfast too it feels deprived and starts to store other stuff you have later as fat so it has reserves when it goes for a while without food. I dont drink coffee so im not real familiar with its nutrition facts but it may be worth a try adding a little something else in for breakfast. But like i said ive never really tried to lose much so just find what works for you and keep up the hard work! I got a buddy whose down 50 pounds since the semester ended and its awesome seeing his progress. Helps to keep me motivated towards my goals too!

Okay, I started an ab workout a month ago. Have not lost a ton but have firmed up. Also have rug burns on my rear end the size of quarters. Have to find a better workout place. I am also in my second week of c25k and am enjoying it. I run 3 days and walk 3 days. I expect pounds to start dropping now with watching my intake, too. I started at 195.

Good job. Try the Max Capacity app on iPhone. That workout is short (under 20 minutes), will kick your *** and has lots of variety so you avoid plateaus.

Since I began my program in May, I've lost 30 pounds, 4 inches in the waist, 4% in body fat, and have my blood sugars under control. The weight loss is slow but steady, and I don't feel I'm depriving myself of anything. Still at the gym every morning at 6 (9 on weekends). I have a long way to go too meet my goals, but I'm moving in the right direction.

Awesome, man. Congrats! How long has it taken you? Share your secrets. I'm about to go on a serious diet/fitness regiment.

Awesome! Great job.

Thanks guys.

I started off by stopping soda, cutting saturated fats and increasing healthy fats (avocado, walnuts, almonds, etc). I eat salmon at least daily, which to say isn't the only thing that has gotten thinner (expensive stuff). I don't eat red meat anymore and almost never eat fried foods. I snack on bananas throughout the day, eat a lot of oatmeal and nonfat yogurt. I also try to drink plenty of water, a cup of beet juice and a few ounces of pomegranate juice daily. Careful with beet juice and pomegranate if you are on high blood pressure medicine, by the way. I also walk at least 30 minutes daily.

Good luck everyone else! I definitely had to make a big change.

I forgot to mention that I started slowly around last November but got more aggressive since February. The weight has been coming off easily.

Thanks also for the reps and support, fellas. You guys are great--God bless!

I've hit 259, down from ~285 back in the fall. I dropped basically all of it in May/June though buy have kept all of it off. I'm starting the next leg of the march to 230 after the last summer wedding this weekend.

I've kept 100 pounds off now for years...my secret is HIIT (high intensity interval training) Start of on stationary bike pedaling at a moderate intensity, then for a minute put a harder gear on and hit it for as hard as you can for a minute, then moderate for a min etc...This causes your heart rate to go up in down, which in turn cranks your metabolism into a fat burning furnace. I hate cardio so I like to be as efficient with my workouts as possible.

btw....eating breakfast is FUNDAMENTAL in any weightloss goal, literally shapes your eating for the entire day

I managed to pack on about 15 lbs this summer. My secret is beer, White Castle, and a general sense of apathy.

Well, I'm down almost 10. I am up to 90 situps, 170 crunches, 45 leg lifts and 2:00 of the plank daily. I alsot am in week 4 of couch to 5 k. This week has been really hard, so I ran extra. Will probably start running 5 days a week now. I have lost about 2 inches around my middle in 7 weeks.
