Wow, had no idea. Couldn't imagine going through half of what he endured. Really happy he is able to go back to doing what he loves now, and am very glad it's at ND.

I loved coach Elliot as is. I knew he was a great guy when he came up to me and talked to me before his presentation at the coaches clinic, but wow, my respect for him just grew even more. What an amazing guy.

its sad that great stuff like this gets pushed aside on forums for other garbage that is or isn't going to happen

Cheers to Coach Elliot!

Cheers to Coach Elliot!

There was a thread like this on 247 and I thought we should also recognize over here what a great addition to the staff Coach Elliot has been. He's been a solid recruiter who has us right in the thick of it with some key DBs (namely Cole Luke and Priest Willis ... iirc he is their primary recruiter), and he's clearly a great coach who has done a masterful job coaching up our safeties. Motta appears to be a much-improved player, and in only one spring/fall camp as a safety, Farley has become pretty reliable. With our inexperienced DBs, a coach like Elliot whom Diaco and Cooks can trust to coach guys up the right way (he's the one who trained them, after all) is invaluable.

Yes he deserves a lot of credit for turning this young secondary into a player! They are off to a great start and I expect them to get better each game! Probably the biggest surprise as a unit so far this year!

I agree - what a smart move by Kelly bringing him in. We knew the secondary was going to be inexperienced so the best solution was to bring an esteemed coach in to try and make the most of it. His recruiting ability is what has somewhat surprised me. Coach Elliot has been a great addition to the staff indeed!

What I really like about Elliot is I feel we can count on him being here for awhile. He likes coaching DB's and S and this is the best place he's been. I think that consistancy will pay dividends in the long run.

I've been Impressed. Even more so with the decision by Kelly to have too put two coaches over the DB's.

Not sure how normal that is to have both a safeties coach and a corners coach, but I think the extra coaching has bolstered up a potential weak area to start the year into a dependable unit. Elliot and Cooks must have great chemistry to be able to pull that off.

agreed, like what i see out of the secondary thus far, still think an experienced qb can take advantage of the few miscues i have noticed, but very impressed. will be nervous facing ok, and usc bc also has top passing o in acc fwiw

I am at a loss words with how amazing it is.

My prayers that the procedure goes well for him and his sister. Kidney transplants have some danger in it for both parties.

We all need to remember to pray for his surgery on signing day.

Elliot is one tough SOB.
