Good Game

I wont touch on the game, but I had a great time tailgating with some Irish fans we met. Obviously I came away happier but they were still polite and congratulating when we got back to where we were parked.

Did anyone on here go?

It was an awesome game. Obviously wish it had ended a little different. I have to tip my cap to U of M. They didn't quit and capitalized on the opportunities they were given. I still don't understand how a handful of plays happened, namely Rees's fumble on 1st & goal, and the Michigan fumble on the goal line that Robinson picked up and ran in, although there are others. Eventually those things will even out and ND will catch some breaks. I'm not sure what else to say at this point. I'm just dumbfounded.

From Facebook statuses, I had one acquaintance sucker punched AFTER the game (gracious winners, huh?), one friend get a beer bottle thrown at him and then to quote from one girl's status "I have never been so degraded and treated so poorly in my life."

There are two difference between Notre Dame and Michigan:
1. Michigan finds ways to win games.
2. Michigan fans are drunk abusive *******s at games.

The silver lining? The Michigan guy who tried to hit the guy I know was so drunk that he basically missed and had his less drunk friends restrain him... so he didn't get it as bad as this Notre Dame student in '09 who had to have reconstructive surgery.

Here's to hoping Michigan finds its way onto our lacrosse schedule. My guys know how to close out games.

Denard is a great competitor. With the exception of ND games I will always root for him. In his interviews he's always smiling and seems like a genuinely good kid.. tough to hate on him.

Sorry you've heard/had poor experiences, but with 114,804 people you're going to have some drunk/abusive people. But I didn't notice any, and I was there from 12pm to 3 am

If beating up on a program in it's first year of NCAA play makes you feel better about yesterday, than hey, god bless ya. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get the same rise out of it, but I guess I'm just different..

Eh, I don't know if that's true. Ask USC fans about their experiences attending ND games versus other away sites (like Ohio State or in the PAC-12). And we're definitely not the only school that does it the "right way"... I've heard really good things about schools like Nebraska, etc. Michigan certainly isn't the worst, and I'm definitely not saying everyone at UM is a douche. In fact, I work with a lot of UM alum engineers (Monday is going to SUCK!!!) who are all really good people.

MGoBlue asked if anyone attended the game, and that's the only reason I bring this up. I would LOVE to attend a game at the Big House but at a whopping 5'8" 140 lbs I'm actually afraid for my safety to do so. It's just upsetting to me that it has to be that way, but every year I hear more horror stories from people that go. I think the school, ushers, etc. need to do a better job of keeping the 110k under control and removing drunk/belligerent people before they get out of control. It wouldn't be hard if they actually made an effort. Just my 2 cents .

You have no idea how frustrating it is being an athlete on a sports team that doesn't matter and watching ND football players blow it on a big stage while you sit there as a "fan" not able to do anything. So. Maddening. I hate not having any control.

Lax is gonna get the exposure at Michigan (playing the school in ohio before the spring football game at The Big House), and Michigan sells itself during recruiting, so I don't think they'll be a punching bag for more than 4 years.

Haha yeah it sucks... the most I've ever weighed was ~150 when I was at "playing weight" chugging protein shakes and lifting all the time. On the bright side, I'll never be a fatty.

I was there, just gut wrenching...I was in section 16 one over from many of the ND students. They started chanting "it sucks.. to be ...a Michigan wolverine" when we went up 24-7. Funny because that's right when the tide turned. Atmosphere was electric...the piped in music, poms(Girly, but looked cool when shook in unison-I'd say go with towels) big screens, say all you want about tradition but this is where ND needs to head if they want to keep up with other schools. If I'm a recruit at that game last night it would be hard to say no to Michigan. Most fans were ok, but one guy grabbed me as I was walking to the exit of my section and yelled, "suck my dic* Irish" he was obviously plowed so I ignored my impulse to react and just said stay classy skunk bear. But what transpired on state street as I was trying get my car out of that mess really drove my hate levels for scUM. Traffic was basically at a stand still in front of all the house parties and some punk threw a cup of beer from a porch and hit my car in the tire(I have a ND plate on front and back, he heard his friend yell at me). So that kinda made me snap, I told my friend to jump in drivers seat if traffic moved and marched my *** right up there. I told him he was lucky I was a parent teacher and coach otherwise I would have smashed him among other things. He says he didn't need a f'in lecture 'coach'...so I grabbed a beer on the table and washed his mouth out!! got a few honks from ND cars then the owner of the house came out and kicked him out which was even better! Lol so I felt a little bit better after that! Rough tho, even worse today reading all the facebook feeds/texts/voicemails that faced me.it's gotta get better at some point right!?

With all due respect, and I say this as someone who works for Inside Lacrosse/ESPN, you're right that Michigan might compete for the NCAA playoffs/ECAC title within ~6 years... but they are nowhere close to Notre Dame, Syracuse, the ACC, Hopkins, Cornell, etc. right now and very well may never even get to the point where they can hang with us on the field year in and year out. They're (at minimum) about 3 years away from even being able to compete with the Ohio States of the world. If Jeff Tundo didn't transfer from OSU you all would get completely embarrassed this Spring.

Michigan has very little (if any) "starter" caliber DI talent on its current roster. They don't have any guys in their current recruiting class that are top DI talent. They've got a couple guys currently committed in the next few classes who are OK prospects. But really, there is no telling that you'll ever even be competitive with a school like Penn State who has a better recruiting hot bed, better coach and better depth to build on. And schools like Penn State are still miles behind the powers of the game right now. The guys Michigan is recruiting as its "headliners" in its next two classes are basically as good as the worst players Notre Dame even looks at... and Notre Dame is even a significant notch behind ACC teams/Syracuse/Hopkins in terms of the depth of their recruiting classes.

So yeah, back to football......

I agree with you.Last night after the game he was interviewed by the commentators for the game, and the kid seems like a genuine,intelligent and nice kid.I HATE Michigan, but will root for this kid.
