After today's game it will be a travesty if Golden Tate name isnt mention in the Heisman talk. Let alone the Fred Biletnikoff award. This kids is winning games all by himself. Golden Tate is officially one of the alltime great Notre Dame wideouts in my book. It's a pleasure to watch you play Golden.

P.S. This game bought tears to my eye's. Let's Go Dame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, he won't be considered for the Heisman.

But he will definitely get some love for the Biletnikoff.

Look, Golden Tate is definitely a great talent. But, he's not even the best receiver on his own team, let alone in the entire country. I love watching the guy play, but let's keep it in perspective.

I love his ability to break tackles............

I do, too. The guy is a rare talent. But, what will hurt his NFL prospects, as a wide receiver, is that he hasn't shown the ability to go up with a defender and just get the ball. He can make a great catch with a defender covering him like a blanket, but he doesn't go up in the air, ala Mike Floyd, and make big plays on the ball. I don't know, maybe the pro scouts will determine that they can coach him up, to do that, at the next level. If they do, then he should be a lock for the 1st round of the draft.

At Golden's size (5'11"), a receiver is not typically used in jump ball situations.

He is going to be a GREAT NFL slot WR.

You might be right, there. The shame of it is, slot guys are usually possession type receivers who don't get the same acclaim as the guys on the outside.

His 244 yds receiving was 32 yds short of Jim Seymour's All Time ND Game Record.

He really reminds me of the Rocket because he is a hybrid, he can return kicks, play receiver and be used on run plays and end arounds. Heisman would be tough for him because Clausen is the Heisman candidate on this team. There is no debating that.

He's a great route runner. Remind me alot of Steve Smith the wideout for the Giants. Who was a great route runner for the Uscum.

How can you mention Steve Smith of USC when there's a much, much better Steve Smith on the Carolina Panthers who is exactly the kind of player Golden Tate is.

Take it easy. Golden is one of the most exciting guys I've seen on the field since I've been an Irish fan, but The Rocket was... well The Rocket.

P.S. I love you Golden.

Man it was so awesome to go and snag a green Tate jersey after the game from the bookstore. I was planning on it before the game but after it made it all the better because of his performance.

I hope Jimmy doesn't win the Heisman . . . this year. I'm afraid if he won that statue he'd be looking to the NFL draft, and I want to watch him in a gold helmet one more year with Floyd, Tate, and all the others. I think he'll be the pre-season favorite for next year.

No chance he's going anywhere next year except to class and to strap on a gold helmet.

Jimmy hands down because of all the pressure that is/has been on him and all that he has had to live up to

Mr. Clausen, because he makes all this happen...its his arm, accuracy, and pass distribution (and that oline giving him time) that is making this work. His passing, because he can hit any receiver, opens up the whole field, which effects the run game as well. You cant possbily think that Crist can step in and make the same decisions, its not going to work. (not saying crist is bad, just saying this is Mr. Clausen's offense)

i dont want to take anything away from Tate, he has stepped up when the team needed him most. He has filled that Floyd role (#1 option) in the offense, but in a different way.

Also give some credit to Weis for 'flipping the switch' when floyd went down. Tate has been used in a drastically different way since then, with very good success. I know its a no-brainer move (Tate #1 option), but the offense is adapting/executing and still producing on the field. to me, that says this is a well coached team.

Maybe I'm just not getting it. The Heisman is not for the best quarterback, it's for the BEST FOOTBALL PLAYER.....
Some of you think that Golden Tate shouldn't win???? Golden Tate is the best football player on ND and probably the NCAA.

If I had to choose, I would want Clausen to win it.

Why?

Because Tate could have a big year, and be the only one on the offense to have a big year, and win it. In order for Clausen to win it, that would mean that multiple guys on the offense would have big years. It would also probably require that one of the other receivers have a great second half of the season. If that happens, then we should definitely win 10 games. Tate could have a Heisman worthy season, even if we went 8-4.
