On this and only this issue i feel like put up,drunk, or dingle 🤦🏻‍♂️. Where i am living in the upside down and wonder how everyone isn’t seeing this. I mean you panick hired a lovable hay seed who Golly gee’d his way into the worst offense since the Willingham era.(statistics be damned, I’m not blind) Everyone saw it and agreed all year. And then he carved the turd sculpture into play action gate and then was immediately proven full of shit. So either he is a liar or a moron or maybe both but ffs if this is good enough, go hire Tony Alford and make him a real OC. He cant be worse, is a kick ass person and a great recruiter, not that I really want this but fuck me porker sucks and even if he doesn’t suck as bad, what top recruits are gonna commit to him next year after seeing his game planning his way into a season that managed to decrease Hartman’s draft stock.

Parker calls every game like we are playing a significantly lesser opponent and it’s exactly what we wanted to see more of under Kelly vs lesser opponents, keep pounding it and occasionally PA

Vs solid or better defenses, Parker calls the game like they’re a MAC team

We used PA next to none vs osu, at the beginning vs duke and it worked but we completely stopped, very little vs Louisville and almost none vs Clemson… fire able offense

Firing an offensive coordinator can do wonders... just saw my Steelers put 400 yards for the first time in over 50 games the first game after firing Canada
Day and night performance despite still not scoring 20 points. Still demonstrates what can happen

Do we really think most HS recruits pay attention to game plans being implemented by the schools where they are going? I really don’t - they should, but the are committing to coaches’ personalities and schools.

HS recruits may not initially, but there will be a crap load of opposing coaches who will neg recruit. Enough that it will cause recruits to potentially reevaluate us.

If ND woulda run the 12, 13 and 14 personnel all season like last night, I'd be all for Parker being back

But f*** that.
We did, that was the problem. We had zeke at center and inexperienced guards that would get exposed against good teams.

We just didn’t utilize PA at all in those games.

I don’t get how nd kept playing zeke all year and what made the staff think spindler and Coogan are better than Billy?

Unless recruits actually watched and paid attention to the scheme, etc it will be difficult to neg recruit our offense this year. Statistically it was a great offensive year. 9th in the country in PPG. More total offense than teams like Alabama and Ohio State. About 10th in the country in yds/rush. 16th in yds per completion. 12th in passing efficiency. The list goes on, but unfortunately these same reasons are why Porker is likely back next year.

None of this was true when it mattered. He couldn’t do it against teams that were worth while.

I agree. You get one mulligan with the OC, but if you willingly run it back with GP or GP + Guidugli, all good will is gone.

Check this thread after GP was promoted: everyone predicted the discount bin offense we got this year because the situation was so evident. It is going to be the same thing and another wasted year. Except you will have a first-time starter instead of Hartman. You thought this year was rough, imagine seeing GP mentor a young quarterback.

Fairness to Parker is completely negated by how unfair it would be to the rest of the team to have all of their hard work sabotaged by an avoidable error.

I agree 100% and wasnt defending the offense. Just stating that based on these facts it will make it difficult for other coaches to neg recruit our offense on the surface. “Why would you want to play in that offense, they only scored 39+ pts/game last year”.

Right, the issue is that ND lost 3 games and in all of those three games the reason was primarily the offense being stuck in neutral or making costly mistakes.

Final opponent adjusted rankings have ND's offense ~21st and the defense ~10th this year. On offense that's worse than 2021 (12th), 2020 (16th), 2019 (17th), 2017 (14th), 2015 (7th) in recent memory.

Or -- phrased another way -- the only years worse than this with Parker were last year's Drew Pyne experience, the 2016 4-8 debacle, and 2018. 2018 is the outlier. It was very similar to this year where offensive woes almost undermined an elite defense multiple times (i.e. one score victories over Michigan, Ball State, Vanderbilt, Pitt, and USC... 4 of those being unranked teams) and when ND played Clemson in the playoffs they mustered a mere 3 points.

So they can dress up "yards per play" and "points per game" however they want, but we all know what we saw. And it was a below-average offense despite having above-average talent everywhere but wide receiver. If they opt to run it back with Gino controlling the passing game maybe it works, but it's far more likely it ends up with a lot of people losing their jobs next year... maybe even Freeman himself.

If Freeman sticks with Parker, and it goes like we expect it to go, they better move on from MF after next season and not give him the full contract.
He has two more seasons regardless. What you need to come to terms with is your view of the ND football program is not the same as the true decision makers - the BOT. They don’t give over riding weight to being an elite program. Top 20 and a HC they like is a great result for them.

I really don’t want that to happen to Freeman. I don’t think any one does. He has so much love for this team and the university. I really thinks he needs to make better coaching decisions. I want him to do well, I want this team to do well and I want this program to do well!

But you are right the paper numbers and what your eyes see aren’t the same.

All he has to do is hire a proper OC.

How does this guy even still have a job?

Talk all you want about football knowledge.

A child who plays Madden could have figured out PA.
Sam Hartman or Freeman himself could have suggested it. They all have about the same level of experience

Anyone see creditable people talking about possibly upgrading at OC?
