They’re both fast and I’m assuming they’d be able to catch a screen.

Have you watched Evans play? Love is fast as shit and was working with the receivers.

The talent is there.

Yes I agree the more I thought about this, the angrier I’ve become with Swarby and powers that be to allow an essentially first-time OC to be hired when there is a first time coach. And that they didn’t put up any $ for a quality, exp’d OC hire. And kind of pissed that Tommy left us at the worst time in terms of there being a pool of candidates available at that time of year. Everyone had made their new team changes by then, making it harder. (Maybe that was the plan… Give G-rod a year trial run and see how he does?)

A lot of us have been talking about exactly this. The tendencies are obvious. The reason 3rd and short is always a trainwreck is that he telegraphs run vs pass, and all of the plays are designed to barrrrrrrely get the yardage. So instead of defending the whole field, they play it like a goal line situation. If you make them think you're willing to attack the whole field on 3rd down and aren't "just" trying to get a yard then they have to play you honest.

Funny enough, he apparently bought a large property in AZ and has been MIA, and has a $15 mill buyout due him from NE which I think can be reduced if he takes a new job; and apparently wants to keep his CFB coaching career going. Isn't this the perfect situation to hire him as an offensive analyst for almost no $ a la Saban's way?

I hate to admit this because I really like to stay positive, but I’m getting that BVG feeling here. Where we absolutely have the talent but it will be wasted because of the coach being incompetent. What has gone on the last two weeks is inexcusable. The WR is down but you need to find a way with the talent you have at every other offensive position. I’m really trying not to over react but I don’t think he’s capable of doing what’s necessary. Elevate Scungilli asap.

He is so bland his favorite meal is plain cream of wheat.

Black pepper is too spicy for him.

He only asks for milk at an open bar.

He is the most bland OC in CFB.

Seriously I wasn't a Tommy fan because he was always trying to prove he's the smartest guy in the room, but holy shit did this pick swing the pendulum a complete 180.

His hype guy. Tells him "good idea" everytime he calls a dive into the middle with 9 in the box. Then throws his hands up and finds a guy who "missed a block" when it shockingly doesn't work.

There's no stepping away from the ledge on this as a ND fan. Parker was a risk and has failed miserably, and MF and ND were in position to really join the upper tier of CFB with Saban sliding, Day being just ok, and us recruting our balls off. And one way or another, the OC is going to cost MF and ND all of it.

Don't let time talk you into "it could be worse" mentality. Everything was headed in the right direction and ND nation needs to have enough self respect to let ND know, do better now.

Depends.

If you look at the teams where the HC is really the OC (Dolphins, 49ers, Rams), you could conceivably look into snagging their OC’s or others on the offensive staff like a Darrell Bevell or Anthony Lynn.

I’d rather go for someone whose been learning from Mike McDaniel, Shanahan, McVay then be force fed GP.

Of course this is just a wild thought from a message board poster. Just tired of vanilla offense.

Motion is good in general and Hartman would've cooked in that offense. We absolutely want our offense to be dynamic and creative with lots of moving parts to put our QB in good situation.
