Diamondback actually still makes some nice bikes.
They have a fully carbon fiber frame that looks sick.
But you can find some reasonably priced ones as well.
Oddly enough bikes are still one of those things where you want to get it at your local shop.
As it relates to our OC search.
I'd say we passed on a Giant or Trek to get a Dick's sporting goods Nishiki.
Probably gonna be decent for the average person, but you're not going to fully send it down any black diamond trails.

There is a huge difference between a guy that produces solid results with next years talent and a guy that maximizes it. I have a hard time seeing Parker as a guy that maximizes it even if the results are solid. The latter is almost a given with the talent we’ll have.

It’s a very good point and valid concern.
That’s my worry too. People will be awed by the fact that ND is going to average like 34 points a game this year.
Then wonder why they couldn’t win the big game, or in ‘24 wonder why the offense is the equivalent of BVG’s defenses.

Maybe our offense will kill it so hard that Parker gets hired away for a head coach gig in December and we can do this again next year but at the front end of the hiring cycle instead of the back.

I guess what bothers me about Parker’s hiring is that from day one, when MF was introduced to the team as their new head coach with that arm swing and walk to embrace the players, was that he seemed different.
He was a guy who seemingly got ND, embraced the uniqueness of ND, and the challenges of ND, but saw them as an opportunity. He was the anti-Burnt Ends.
He would work tirelessly to recruit players, and demand his staff did the same. If he didn’t know something, he would figure it out. In short, he would work his ass off to give ND, the players, and the fans every opportunity to win.
Then he preached is mantra of “challenge everything.”
Now, he’s met some obstacles, and seemingly has abandoned why so many of us fell in love with the him by making the easy hire. What’s he challenging by hiring Parker? Is he really working his ass off by hiring Parker? Is he embracing all the opportunities of what ND has to offer by hiring Parker?
I hope Parker is great and the team wins. But this hire can’t help but feel like a Burnt Ends hire that is safe, easy, comfortable…and gets him back out on the golf course as fast as possible.

He was given a raw deal at WVU, especially at QB. That shouldn't be a problem with the QB room ND has and Guidugli as QB coach. You would obviously rather have had Ludwig, or any other outside name ND was looking at. But I'm willing to at least give him a chance before I pan the hire. My guess is that he'll be a plus as a recruiter at the very least.

That’s a really good point.
I think most of feel like ‘23 could be a really special season for the team though. While a playoff appearance/NY6 bowl may help get Parker a head gig, I won’t help but feeling a little disappointed if the team gets close to a Natty and falls short. I won’t be able to not wonder what a different guy than Parker might have been able to help ND accomplish.

Well, Marcus seems to be going with the "culture approach" as opposed to hiring superstars. Personally, I have no problem with this. So often the "superstars" are products of their own culture and the team around them. Some are great, but fail to mesh with a new system, culture or coach.
Marcus must see himself as his best self when surrounded by the guys who helped him land at ND to begin with. He has always struck me as a guy who leads with a "team" approach to his staff anyway, if that is the case he is probably best suited to be surrounded by guys who will respect him from day one and buy into his culture/approach which they already know from previous time together. Personally, I am up for it. We'll see how it shakes out one way or another in the long run (or short run, lol).
To me, these moves indicate Marcus making it HIS ND team.

Yeah, the timing sucked. But c’mon, Lax, you know the situation wasn’t entirely “I either hire Ludwig or hire Parker. That’s it. End of story. Period.”
That’s a false dichotomy.
MF had other options besides “Ludwig or Parker.”
Granted, I obviously don’t know all the details of who he talked to or interviewed. And time was catching up to him. But do you really believe after the Ludwig debacle, Parker was the only or best option available?
