Bob Williams, ND's quarterback in the 1957 victory over OU, came from Wilkes-Barre, PA. He played at Wilkes-Barre's G.A.R. High School.

Know who else came from Wilkes-Barre, PA?

Raghib "Rocket" Ismail. Rocket played at Wilkes-Barre's Meyers High School. Rocket's high school coach was Micky Gorham, a very good lineman at Notre Dame who lost out on an NFL career because of a devastating knee injury. Like Bob Williams, Micky had been a great player at Wilkes-Barre's G. A. R. High School.

I have no doubt Bob and Micky will be watching the game from heaven and yelling the score down "there" to Bo!

GO IRISH!

So, Bob Williams went to high school in Wilkes Barre, PA - Rocket Ismail went to high school in Wilkes Barre, PA - Rocket played for Lou Holtz at ND - Lou Holtz had a part in The Blind Side with Sondra Bullock - Sondra Bullock was in Loverboy with Kevin Bacon.

5 moves!!! Boom!!!

You've never been the sharpest knife in the drawer, have you?

No, you didn't even say anything. You just stated some random facts about the 57' QB and the rocket going to the same high school, and then proceeded to talk about an old lineman from the team and how he got hurt in the NFL. I know you were trying to link the 57' OU game with having something to do with the present game, but you kinda failed miserably in making any sort of connection beside the rocket being from the same high school as Bob Williams.

Our starting QB this week is from Myrtle Beach, SC. Know who else is from Myrtle Beach, SC? Vanna F'N White! What did that do for you? Did that blow your mind?

Como no!

BTW, Mickey Gorham, Rocket's high school coach, was also on the 1957 ND team I don't know if he played in the OU game or not. He'd have been a sophomore in '57.

Wasn't Rocket supposed to support that high school gym and never did or something?

Well, you've just confirmed my assumption of your intellect: very low.

Read my post again and see where I said Bob Williams and Rocket went to the same high school.

Your grade for reading comprehension? F--a big f'ing F. And I'm sure you picked up a whole load of 'em during your school days. I'd say school for you ended about the 9th or 10th grade. That about right, pilgrim?

My post was just a little bit of coincidence involving Notre Dame, the '57 OU game, and a certain small town in NE PA. It's really not that difficult to comprehend...for most of us. :wbanana:

Did you get all snarky and nasty about it because it was above your reading comprehensive level?

Assuming you are from around there.

Anytime Central PA comes up...I'm good with it. I knew of GAR...I was further west around Williamsport...Remember Joe Zone covering the Wilkes Bare/Scranton teams all the time...pissed me off! Anyway, I always loved the Rocket Story...this adds to it for me. I always figured he ended up at ND because of the Father of a Childhood Friend...looks like he had a couple guys pointing him there...awesome!

Lots of Thread of the Year potential here.

Definately in the running. Its a close second behind the uniform surprise that gets posted on every week and realizing that ND has wore one different set of unis the entire year.

Yeah, I got that part. That is why I restated that exact thing in my post. My point is who gives a flying f*** about the 57' qb being from the same town in PA as the rocket. It really has absolutely nothing to do with this game, and is a total waste of a thread as evidenced by everybody posting stupid pictures also.
