I am weirdly OK with this. I think Chad was great as the recruiting coordinator and I liked the energy he brought to that department. However, the GM role is going to be so important as this new era of college football continues to move along that I think ND needs an experienced person in that role. Go get a guy from an NFL personnel department.

I can’t imagine Marcus was happy with the 2025 class, so I think they’d have tough time justifying a giant pay bump at this time. If we were coming off a top 5 class it’d be a different story.

I think the GM role has become much more important than initially thought in the NIL / portal world, and it’s possible a guy with more applicable roster management experience would be a better fit. Chad seems somewhat like a glorified cheerleader, idk. Kids all Seem to like him.

Bowden is essentially in the same boat as Freeman in that Freeman’s first HC job is ND which is tough to learn on the job. Bowden’s first GM role is at ND, tough to learn on the job. Add into that, the job literally is constantly changing and forming, I have no doubt Bowden has struggled at times, I also would say who wouldn’t?

You could hire a former NFL FO member, they know the job, but they don’t know college. You could snipe a GM from another school, but they would have growing pains to ND. Idk I don’t see anyone that is a likely slam dunk.

I know Texas likes their GM, helps to have a oil drum full of cash.

Yea, someone that could set it up to run right with the changes, that NFL experience of how it should look. Would help the candidate show they are ready for a NFL job in the future as well (probably the ultimate goal). Some college knowledge. I just sold myself on Louis Riddick. Come on down haha.

ACC schedule is out. ND vs NC St Oct 11, @ BC Nov 1, @Pitt Nov 15, Syr Nov 22, at Stanf n 29

They didn't say if Stanf at Palo Alto or Rose Bowl

We are open week two, between Miami and A & M, and Oct 25 between USC and Navy

Without knowing who transfers in the spring and the QB, I don't see the first 7 games as that crazy in the context of a regular ND schedule, just tougher than 2024. If they can get through Miami and Texas A&M unscathed, I will be buying my home playoff tickets in October.
