I wish they'd play at Citi Field instead of Yankee Stadium. Citi has better dimensions and at least has a little character. Yankee Stadium absolutely stinks for all non-baseball sports (saying this as a former NYCFC season ticket holder). Also, brutal stretch to go from South Bend to NYC to South Bend to LA in 7 days, but last time they did it, it capped an undefeated season.

Great, another triple option team to waste a week of prep for. On the bright side at least their archaic blocking scheme can injure our linemen before USC!

Yeah there’s just something about those migrant brothels on Roosevelt Avenue and Willets Point chop shops that make me wish the game was there instead lol

Penn state at MetLife or the Linc would be cool one year. You’d get a sellout and a near 50/50 crowd

I hate that fact that you are taking a home game away. ND stadium and the campus crazy beautiful. Let them Play at home with out the damn travel.
I really hate it for the fans and South Bend locals and the businesses. Taking away another home game really hurts the hotels, restaurants, bars, grocery stores and such that really depend on those fall Saturdays.

Because it checks all the boxes, in a MAJOR way;

Students, Alumni, TV markets, Tradition

Students - 13% of current ND students are from NY/NJ + another 3% from Philly
(campared that to 12% from Illinois (UofND stats))

Alumni is even more - nearly 20% current Alumi are NY/NJ/Philly (ND Alumni Assoc stats)

Subway Alumni? no one knows, but east coast is the major base for that

Endowment - idk, but I bet over a third comes from those areas

TV market - NY is #1, Philly is #4 (Philly is a 2 hour drive, +)
(and who doesn´t want to give your main media partner a big payday?)

Tradition -You might be unappreciative of ND tradition, but there´s a lot there to be pround of.
And ND-Army at Yankee Stadium is at the top of that list.
Take a second to look at this -

And why Yankee vs Citi? It´s part of our DNA (see above)
.
It'd be totally fine if we weren't also playing Navy at the Meadowlands. You are correct about the many boxes but we don't need to check them all twice in a month.

But we are not taking away a home game.
We still have six on campus in 2024 . That´s the max we ever have.
We had seven games on-campus in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

2024 on campus
09/07 - Northern Illinois
09/21 - Miami (Ohio)
09/28 - Louisville
10/12 - Stanford
11/09 - Florida State
11/16 - Virginia
--
2024 full schedule
08/31 - at Texas A&M
09/07 - Northern Illinois
09/14 - at Purdue
09/21 - Miami (Ohio)
09/28 - Louisville
10/12 - Stanford
10/19 - at Georgia Tech (at Mercedes-Benz Stadium)
10/26 - vs Navy (in East Rutherford, NJ)
11/09 - Florida State
11/16 - Virginia
11/23 - vs Army (in Bronx, NY)
11/30 - at USC

That’s now always the case, especially in recent years. Purple face specifically complained about it and had 7 home games scheduled in the latter portion of his time.

I didn’t realize we were playing GT at the Falcons’ stadium. What’s wrong with Bobby Dodd?

Four toughest games are spread out nicely.

Playing an option team a week before USC flying to New York one weekend then the next opposite side of the country to play at USC might be the dumbest scheduling I have ever seen.

Right, because they are flying in dirigibles.

I just want them to win another championship again. That really should be the end goal. Playing service academies on baseball fields or in Ireland or Mormons in Las Vegas isn't consequential to me. I don't know how the players feel about it in the grand scheme, but I really like having home games actually at home on campus for a variety of reasons. Even with ND's record in the Shamrock Series being unblemished, it isn't really anything that appeals to me at this juncture of my fandom.

True. However...

Two of the four occur following playing service academies, which from a football strategy and preparation standpoint I absolutely hate. Not to mention both service academy games are happening on the East Coast.

Thankfully FSU is at home.
