SAN ANTONIO, Texas - According to an anonymous survey taken by the U.S. Army All-Americans at their Sunday check-in, the University of Alabama is home to the nicest college campus in the country. Among the 84 prospects that participated in the survey, nearly 11 percent responded "Alabama" when asked to name the nicest college campus they've ever visited.

As a collection of the most coveted football prospects in the country, these are young men that have visited numerous campuses from coast to coast over the last few years and have received red carpet treatment wherever they go. Everywhere they go, programs are putting their best foot forward.

The full results are listed below in order of number of responses for each program:

Alabama - 9
Notre Dame – 8
USC – 6
LSU - 5
Ohio State – 5
Ole Miss – 5
Clemson – 4
Georgia – 4
Oregon – 4
Stanford - 4
Auburn – 3
Florida – 3
Florida State - 3
Tennessee – 3
UCLA - 3
Arizona State – 2
Duke - 2
Penn State – 2
Texas A&M - 2
Kentucky – 1
Miami - 1
Mississippi State – 1
Oklahoma – 1
South Carolina – 1
Temple – 1
Texas – 1
Vanderbilt – 1
West Point – 1

No reason not to have a single recruit from ACC country. This shows that we aren't touching that region.

The map doesn't show Te'Von Coney who was taken out of Miami's back yard. Also, technically Justin Yoon (MA) is ACC territory, but your point is well taken. The ACC affiliation hasn't yielded recruiting results in the heart of ACC country (VA, NC, SC, GA) this cycle.

I watched a Rivals video recently that said ND had more states (13) represented in their recruiting class than any other school in the country.

I wasn't really thinking Florida but you're right.

The Carolinas and Virginia should be ours. Kids who are ND material should not be choosing UNC, Duke, or Va Tech over us.

Ok... let me touch on this.

Technically, "ACC Country" is comprised of 9 states: Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.

We had 26 scholarship players on the roster from these combined states this past season, about 31% of our scholarship roster.

I'm sure, by "ACC Country" you meant the Carolina's & Virginia, considering nearly half of all full-time members are located those states. Now, even between those three states, we had 10 scholarship players, about 12% of our scholarship roster.

It may seem like a small amount, but considering ND is a midwest school, that recruits nationally, it's a pretty solid number.

I understand what you're saying, but with our national brand, we can/should put higher emphasis on VA or NC than say Illinois and also get better talent in the process.

With all the people who transfer here for jobs, North Carolina is basically Southern Ohio, so you have a lot of kids down here with family in the midwest which is another perk while recruiting.

Notebook: Notre Dame recruit Tillery flips to defense - Notre Dame Insider: Notre Dame Football

Good article on Tillery playing defense and some of our other commits, including Wiltfong's opinion that Barajas will be an immediate impact guy.

But I found this nugget interesting:

Many happy returns

College football stat guru Phil Steele has calculated returning players among all 65 Power 5 Conference teams, and the squad with the most returning starters is none other than Notre Dame, with 19.

That number could change between now and Jan. 15, for the Irish and many other schools. That’s the deadline date for underclassmen to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Day and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley are still mulling their options, though Day reportedly is leaning toward returning to ND for the 2015 season.

The three lost ND starters are cornerback Cody Riggs, tight end Ben Koyack and offensive tackle/guard Christian Lombard, the latter of whom missed ND’s 31-28 Music City Bowl Victory on Tuesday with a back injury.

The returning starter count does not include cornerback KeiVarae Russell, a starter in 2012 and 2013 before missing this season with a suspension. He and defensive end Ishaq Williams remain on track to rejoin the Irish in June.

October ratings darling Mississippi State holds the distinction of having the fewest starters returning among Power 5 teams, with seven.

19, wow...

Really hoping Sheldon stays. He could be a real star and the type of veteran we need on defense.

The number isn't that surprising. I've been telling people we return 20 when you consider KVR coming back. What's surprising is we lead the nation in returning starters. I thought I heard TCU was bringing back 20 during their bowl telecast, but I may have heard incorrectly. I do remember is was 10 on offense.

Stanley and Day need to come back! 2015 will be special.

It is unhealthy to expect Notre Dame to dominate any area not called Northern Indiana in recruiting.

With the national brand, they recruit nationally. They will never dominate anywhere but can enter into the conversation just about anywhere.

I haven't gotten around to updating my photoshops of the recruiting classes, but Brian Kelly has recruited nationally since he's been at Notre Dame--including doing very well in ACC country.

Soldier Field A Probable ND Spring Game Venue

Notre Dame is likely to play its annual spring football scrimmage at Soldier Field due to a construction project undertaken at Notre Dame Stadium, though nothing has been finalized, multiple sources told 247Sports.

...

Due to Campus Crossroads Construction.

Great. We can expect half the team to suffer high ankle sprains because that field is a piece of sh*t.

Makes sense, may be a little odd watching a scrimmage game in a NFL stadium. As long as they serve beer I would be ok with it.
I wonder what attendance will be like. Easier to get to for everyone except the students, but I don't know how many people would bother traveling if not to make a pilgrimage to campus. That's one of the reasons I don't bother with the Shamrock Series. If I'm going to one game a year, I'm going to do the whole "campus thing."

I wonder how the finances work. I can't imagine they'll pull the revenue to pay the Bears or whoever owns the stadium their rent.

For any that don't know, he is that rather muscular bald man you might have seen roaming the sidelines or in watchnd game day videos.
