With a pending lawsuit against FSU and Jameis Winston, and with FSU on the list of 94 postsecondary institutions with pending Title IX sexual violence investigations, and with both the FSU president and Jimbo issuing statements that FSU has no tolerance for such incidents, the climate for turning a blind eye to these situations may be changing quickly, especially if FSU sees itself becoming the national poster child for violence against women and the target of further lawsuits.

I would not want to be in FSU's Risk Management division trying to increase their liability insurance coverage. It would certainly be easier to dismiss Cook with a "No Tolerance" reason than risk being brought to account by Florida's taxpayers for continuing lawsuits.

pretty sad that so much crap comes out of that program. isn't the "where there's smoke, there's fire" saying worth a little look/see? can't imagine any of that being tolerated at ND.

"They kept telling me they were football players," the woman said. "They kept telling me to Google them. They told me they were football players and they could buy me in two years." Source

Lawyers will cost Dalvin Cook. Her lawyers can let the criminal process play out. They may tell her "In a couple of years, you can buy him."

We'll see if every battery or rape case involving a football player will soon end up costing them not only their chance at recognition at a prominent university but also a chunk of future income.

I really don't see how Jimbo can enforce a bar ban. A third to half his players are of legal age plus they are not in season nor in camp yet. Are they also banned from restaurants that have a liquor license?

FSU's problem has been with two underage athletes and Cook was outside the bar when the punches were thrown. Will Jimbo ban sidewalks and parking lots near bars as well?

I don't recall that DUI was an issue/charge with either athlete. They do have anger management and/or women issues.

Theses issues should be dealt with by a Dean of Students not a FB coach.

You make too much sense.

And it isn't "anger management." That is an over used cliché, almost an idiom, if you will.

Yes there is anger involved, but the issues are much deeper that losing one's temper. It is about domination and submission, and devaluing another person's worth as a human being, (just because of the fact they can be taken advantage.)

It is probably not just women, but it often comes out as such, in; "you look like a hot object, give me sex." And after rejection, "You turned me down? You are not worth shiit, then; I will punish you!" Because, of course, the afflicted is the only one whose life has any value.

Thanks for the article, but did anyone else find it almost unintelligible?

I wish I could rep you for this but I must spread it around first. Great post.

FSU head Coach Jimbo Fisher really putting his foot down.

Football players are now also banned from dog bars, dog parks, dog pounds, and pet stores.

To further demonstrate that the cognitive dissonance reaches the highest levels in Floriduh, I present the FSU president's comments regarding football players hitting women (while cameras may be on...):

It was regrettable because I found particularly later on what a good young man this kid is.

"As I told the team, the worst mistake he made, obviously, hitting the woman was a bad mistake, but I just wish he hadn't have been there. I just wish he hadn't have been in that situation and put himself in that situation. That's the message we are trying to send to these athletes because if you don't go to those kind of places, these kind of problems probably aren't going to happen.

To clarify, the worst mistake was this "good young man" being in the bar.

Tyreke Johnson 2018 ATH top athlete for 2018....DeAndre's brother

"Florida State. Great coaches, just a sad situation," said Johnson. "My thing is, what's going to stick with me and Florida State? If they keep Dalvin Cook on the team, I'm not going to Florida State. I like Dalvin as a player, but my brother, he touched a girl one time, as the video shows. Dalvin Cook, he repeatedly beat the girl. You know, it depends on what they do with this situation. Because, to me, that means that they are showing favorites to guys who already made plays, rather than guys, who... well, my brother made plays in the spring game and was going to be the starting quarterback. He did the best overall. It shows me that they don't stick by their players, they pick favorites."

UCLA leads but ND could make a push supposedly
“Great tradition. Great school. Great academics,” said Johnson of the Irish. “I wouldn't mind going up to Notre Dame to play football. Great tradition, like I said. They have a good 'life after football' program. They put guys in the league, but the guys that don’t go to the league, they make money like they’re in the league.”

This needs to be the quote we use all the time.

So it's okay to punch them out if you're not in a bar and no cameras are rolling?

Haha, this guy reminds me of the governor in that movie Blazing Saddles (played by Mel Brooks). Everything they say is a head scratcher!

I was waiting on fsu's president to say, "that man didn't give me a harrumph!" Hahahahahaha!

No. It's magnified because there is video and photo evidence of your players assaulting women. Jackass.

I'm not sure there is a personality in all of college football that I dislike more than Jimbo Fisher.

And not to hit the quote too hard, but has anyone seen a more clearly stated example of megalomania?

(A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of power, relevance, omnipotence, and by inflated self-esteem.)

And, has anyone lost the irony of the fact that this thread has become about anything but a 'Criminole,' criminal investigation?

Dalvin Cook's Lawyer Files Demand for Speedy Trial

TALLAHASSEE -- It appears that Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is preparing to head to court on battery charges.

Court records show his lawyer has now filed a demand for a speedy trial. That means they will likely set a date this week and the trial must be held within 60 days.

Cook is accused of hitting a woman outside of Clyde and Costello’s Bar in Tallahassee on June 23rd.

He has been suspended from the FSU football team as his criminal case moves forward.

It seems like all this stuff happens on the strip. The only bar that is any good is on the strip Poor Paul's. In the years that I have been going there, I have never seen a fight.
