Help me out here experts...
First, I am aware he really did fumble. The replay confirmed that he did. I am not questioning the fact.
But, if the ref calls incompleted pass and blows the whistle isn't the play dead. How could they overturn that one? Simiar to when a RB fumbles...if you call a fumble it can be reviewed to see if the knee was down, but if you call his knee down there is not a chance for a replay because the play has been blown dead.
In both cases isn't it better to rule the fumble initially and then go back to look at it. The opposing team then has the opportunity to pick the ball up and advance it. Am I incorrect?
