Me, too.
I don't know what everyone thinks. I think the law should apply the law, res life should do what it does, and Coach should coach. Floyd has already missed the spring. "Saving face" by suspending him further would seem asinine to me, if that is the reason they would do such a thing.
I'm sure Kelly knows full well he will have to answer to the media and everyone else for whatever he does, but will look past that silliness while making the best decision for Mike. Only they know all the facts.
Personally, I feel Floyd has already been doled his punishment with more to come. I would let him play the entire season.

Mike seems like a really good guy. No doubt he will learn from this. I am glad he has a second chance at this. Of course, on a football standpoint, it makes our team much better.

I find it weird that ESPN hasn't run this story yet.
... which is almost unpossible but I just did it"
Yeah, I'm going there with the elitist grammar police thing.

lol thanks bro!
So, basically, your straight out saying that ResLife doesn't care about Floyd and is really just consumed with the Football program's success. That they didn't have Floyd's best interest in mind (when no doubt they knew the heat they would take from letting him off lightly, as the outsiders will see it).
You are totally undermining the decision process that they went through and you are assuming that you know better than all of them. Of course, you were there at the hearing and heard what went on and Floyd's side of it as well right?
Sorry bro, but I gotta call b.s. on this one. Most athletes 'seem like good guys'. Then you get to know them through their actions, and you'll find that many of them are arrogant, self-righteous bastards who care about one thing...themselves. When you are pampered and fawned upon since you were 8 yrs old, I can see why that happens.
How many athletes have to be exposed as complete a-holes before we realize that we DON'T know them at all. Tiger Woods anyone? It's funny, my wife was dating a professional football player before she met me (she really scored by marrying a teacher instead of a multimillionaire!!!), and the dude was a total player; but super nice to her and treated her well and all that jazz. But guys, we don't really know these guys. Be real here.
Floyd has a great back-story and you're right he SEEMS like a good guy. But we don't know that for sure, and we don't know that he'll learn from this. He could just as easily look at this and say that he got out of spring ball and got a slap on the wrist (see: Ray Malauga), and he might be laughing at us right now. I HOPE that's not the truth, but I'm just saying, out here in L.A. I've been around a lot of athletes and know people who know superstars, and trust me, these people aren't what you think they are.
I know I'm in the minority and that's cool...we're all Irish fans so it's all good. But in staying consistent with my earlier posts, I still think he deserves a couple games suspension, and nothing I've read has changed my opinion.
Whatever, looks like it's done now, so I hope he really does go out and change his ways...
Floyd's side is he drank and drove, period. Floyd is at ND to be a student athlete and is there on his athletic merit. While I understand your viewpoint, don't ever come down on Florida or USC or UM if some player on their end does the same thing and gets off easy.
I just find it hypocritical that fans of ND can say that other universities don't discipline their players, but when its one of our own its ok. Looking at the facts that are out there, and previous alcohol related incidents, in my humble opinion I thought he deserved games off. While the previous incidents didn't go anywhere it is now a pattern behavior. Like I said, had this been the first and only incident then I would agree.
lmfao! I didn't even catch that the first time I read it on that site!
And we forgive you brah. We get wiser as we get older. It probably wasn't even your fault you were a skunkbear fan in the first place...peer pressure?![]()

I see your point.
My feelings towards this situation are little different. I have no right to judge because I was in the same situation as Michael when I was 19. I was playing junior hockey in Quebec when it happened, and I let a lot of people down. It pretty much ended my career, and a lot of people were very judgmental towards me. That was very difficult psychologically on me. I knew what I did was wrong, but it kept bringing me down. So, I had to make a choice. Either I feel sorry for myself, or I move on and try to be a better person. I did just that. I went back to school trying to better myself and also trying to never let something like that happen ever again. I was never a bad person, but that incident helped me realize some things.
Obviously, I don't really know Michael. He kinda reminds me of myself from what I can gather. This shy guy in public, but goofy around the people he cares about. I guess time will tell if I am right or wrong to believe he deserves a chance to prove that he can be the better man. I really hope he does, and that he can inspire this team.
I was a local.....griping in the sandbox with NDOM in my Underoos..... I have obviously seen the light.....and getting pelted with marshmallows in the Big House in '93 didn't help their cause.

I hear ya dude. I grew up in Sparty territory but I refused to ever root for msu. I'm pretty sure the reason I can't stand msu fans now is because of growing up near state.![]()
Frankly, I do not agree with a non-suspension. At all. Its unfair. I won't get into the argument for the sake of my fingers and time, but I believe Floyd deserves at least a 2 game suspension. I would give 4, but what do I know.
This marks the last time I ever criticize other schools for actions similar to this.

Reps bro. I got a DUI too, and it probably saved my life (and more importantly, someone else's). Like I said in an earlier post, I deserved ever single punishment I got and probably a lot more. So if Floyd were to get a couple or even many games, I wouldn't be pissed about it, b/c he brought it on himself, and I believe you need to take these punishments like a man and grow from them.
But as it stands, hopefully he will learn from this, and we just picked up (again) a 6 star recruit for the 2011 season...

Oh, delightful Irish Fans. You don’t get to decide the fate of Mike Floyd. He is a man whose potential experience in this world your odd ideas of right and wrong don’t get to approach. I, as an engineering student there in the 90’s [graduated with my degree in1995], had the unfortunate experience of meeting the SUDS crew [Indiana’s roving underage drinking Nazis] at the age of 19 where they “busted” me at a party for an alcohol level of 0.06 after the win over Michigan. I was at ND on a ROTC scholarship and it was suggested that I should leave Notre Dame to pursue studies elsewhere. I, instead, accepted the draconian punishments levied, paid for a full semester [thanks dad], and continued my degree, had a very successful six years in the military and an even more successful time afterward. The point is, if anyone of you thinks your concepts of morality should affect the potential of a truly gifted individual, please just kiss your wife and get ready for a season of incredible ND football you can watch on your HDTV. Mike’s demons are his own, as are yours. Let’s enjoy watching him exercise them against the hated Wolverines. I’ll surely exceed a 0.06 this September.
