He's 21. Were you making sounds decisions at every turn when you were 21?

I wanted to say something silly like kick him out of school or suspend him for 6 games or chop his head off just to make the point its college guys trying to cop with being college guys (no big deal). But the more I think about it this is a real concern. Its the second time and Notre Dame is not like other places as far as the players committment to the school. He could have piled someone up in an accident but more importantly its fuel for the rest of the world to point at Notre Dame. I suspect this time he's going to get hammered ( pardon the pun ).i do not want to rip on him, whatever is decided he should get no different treatment as others who have acted similarly just because he is an excellent football player ..this doesnt belong in the same convesation as tOSU players, Floyd could have badly hurt an innocent person on the way home to their family...just my opinion

I don't know how many times I have to state this, but immaturity.I am smart enough to not drink and drive. He could've took a innocent life. He isn't make good decisons for wanting to make a career in football. I don't care who it is doing that is being a idiot.

he did make a dumb decision, but to be cited for a DUI in Indiana all your BAC level needs to be is .04. Which is not alot of alcohol, of course his could have been higher but no more information has been given out. Almost every person on this board has drank then drove, no matter the amount.
It sucks, but all the information needs to come out before people make any type of accusation of his character.
No one disagrees that this was a poor decision. My point is that he's still a kid, and I don't know about you but I'm A LOT more prudent with my decision making now than when I was a kid.
Bad choice of words on my part (he did not hurt anyone) thank goodness. Thats what I was inferring. Your comment was not cool as I did not mean it the way you took it. I 'll check with you as my editor next time.ND's image is more important than human lives? Interesting...
...If I look at Yeatman as a template...Big Mike is Done. Does it matter in what order these things happened, DUI - Underaged Consumption? I don't think so.

My man! I agree completely! I think you got this situation exactly correct.I think Yeatman's situation is a guide and his punishment will be closer to Yeatman's than a light punishment of missing spring football or 1 game.
I do think Yeatman's situation was worse, because he got the DUI first and was on probation. He knew there would be big problems at ND and with the prosecutor if he got into trouble breaking the law. Despite that, he still made an intentional choice that put himself in danger of being kicked out or potential jail time.
This is Floyd's second situation and he was not on probation, at least from a legal standpoint. I do not expect his punishment to be quite as severe as Yeatman's, but I bet it will be significantly more then just missing spring football.

No Judgement from me. It happened to me when I was 20. Kids will be kids. Sometime we forget.
So many of you guys say things like this, while I am currently a kid and I have never drank alcohol in my lifeand do not ever plan on doing it. It is not that hard you just have to have the mental strength to resist it. There is absolutely no excuse for Floyd's actions...

You havent been an ND fan long enough....just wait.....
I'd pay to hear what Kelly said when he got that phone call around 5 am...
Im going to say he gets the Superstar treatment and gets a 4 game suspension. BK will work his magic and convince the high powers to allow him to stay on board. ESPN questions if ND will mkae it through the 4 game stretch without their primary weapon. In Holtz-like fashion, he says they go 4-0 and May says 1-3. They end up going 3-1.
I think more than enough people understood my slant, what person would infer that image was more important than a life. Would you like to be my editor-as I said before I think YOUR comments are a little over the top here. Now if you want to respond again I must say I am not going to read anymore postings by you on this. It ends here with me. I think everyone knew what I meant.Just trying to put things into perspective here. There is a tendency to fear the worst and jump to conclusions. However, you may want to proof read every now and again. This is a public forum after all and your "innocent intentions" can come across otherwise if you don't...which they did.

You are never going to take any alcohol. Really? That is just a bold statement.
I am not making an excuse. He made a mistake. I did the same mistake when I was his age and it pretty much ended my hockey career. Was it stupid, Yes. People make mistakes, what are you going to do about it...
