I can't believe we lost this game. I feel like I want curle up in a dark room and just die! I supported Weis and thought he was going to turn things around, but today proved that we will never make the turn with him.

I have been an unrelenting Charlie supporter no matter what has happened. Today I think he might have lost his dream job. It will take a upset of USC to save it. I am sick to my stomach thinking about the job search, all the people talking about how Notre Dame isn't an Elite job anymore... the public turn downs...the humiliation...the transfers...lost recruits...... somebody wake me from this nightmare. Charlie please find a way to Beat the Trojans.

I have been one of Charlie's biggest fans on this board. Any of you that have read my posts will recognize that. I will not take any personal shots at him or his assistants. But today was it for him. You can say that the players played with no heart and they took Syracuse for granted, but that is a DIRECT REFLECTION of the head coach.

I just dont think Charlie can motivate 18-22 year old kids.

I see us getting blasted by USC, and come Monday December 1st, Charlie will be fired. A national search will ensue. The seniors will want to play in the Sun Bowl, where Jon Tenuta will coach us on an interim basis. This will be 2004 all over again.

I think Charlie is a great man who is a great representative of our University, he is just not a college head coach.

I am not using my anger of today's game to influence this post. Quite the contrary, I think today is the day that we did turn the corner, we will just have someone else lead us.

The thing that I don't understand is you want to get rid of Charlie, but not lose the recruits. They are coming because of him. If/When they fire him, there are no more recruits. We go back to four years ago and try to piece it together again. Did any of you think this year was anything more than lets get to some Bowl Game and win? They still have a chance to do that. I no longer believe he can be an effective head coach. I've never called for his head, but I cannot defend him anymore. If he truly loves the university, he should step down and save ND from having to fire him. This loss was a complete embarrassment.

That is a very profound statement. Personally, even if I agree with you, what coach is going to do a better job with this team. I played at ND from 95-99. Since the 1995 season, our average record is 7-5 with ZERO bowl wins. This play has a lot more to do with the factors that recruits judge Notre Dame on vs. USC. I believe that Coach Weis is under contract until 2014. Thats one hell of a severance package. Again I ask, name me interested coaches who could do better than 7-4, year in and year out.
Another issue that I learned as a player that some of the recruits we sign have already reached their peak. EX. in 1995, Autry Denson was the last person to get an offer. Most of the coaches expected nothing from him. Hell , he was playing DB, not even running back. He told coach Holtz to give him one day, and he is now the all-time leader rusher. That does include Bettis.

We should fire him now like Robinson got fired and then turned around and got his biggest win on his way out. Maybe this will help CW get his guys up for the USC game. That may be true, but that does not explain losing at home to a team that is 2-8 with a lame duck head coach. I didnt expect more than 7-8 wins this year, but there are certain games you just cannot lose, and today was one of them.

Last year after the Navy loss at home i wrote a long post on why we should keep Weis. I changed my mind. i thought that that loss was an all-time low, but to lose to Syracuse at home is a disgrace. Syracuse is the worst BCS conference team in the nation (fact, not writing that for EXAGERATION) and to lose to them at home is a joke. This whole program is a joke. I'm tired of our team having zero swagger, they never talk shit. And then I have sit here and watch the moderators and a few other people gang up on the people who post the negative stuff about ND football as program. its like they work for the PR department of ND. Then we will read those certain posts who are like "yea yea jump of the wagon now, but watch when they are good how quickly everyone comes back to route for them." well if you keep saying that year after year after year, eventually you have to be correct on people coming back to route for ND. I will still route for them but right now i am not happy. I sat here today and wondered if they didnt have Charlie when Quinn was here if they would have won a national championship or even a bowl game. I loved him the first 2 years. Its like the play calling is completely different now, so conserative.


Why would you attempt a 49 yard field goal in 20 degree temps only up 6 with 5 to play. you miss and give them amazing field position. yea yea, if he makes it, its a ballsy call and walker is great. but its too risky. the ball is rock hard and doesnt travel as far, funny thing is this time on both long attempts walker finally had them accurate but not long enough. You punt the ball there and pin them hopefully inside the 20 and force them to go the distance, instead charlie got excited, shot his load, creamed his pants and went for the whole thing instead of taking it easy and playing it strategically.


I dont just hold weis accountable, the players just look flat, un-fast (not a word i know), and boring and small. the offense is boring, the team is un-exciting. Im tired of ND being the moral, well educated team. open up the damn jails and lower the standards. i dont care anymore about people's feelings, or if Navy is a service academy so we shouldnt run the score up on them. Let's respect everyone, no thanks. And then we have sit there and watch them pout and look sad in the corner of end zone while they sing their corny song. ND is corny anymore. I love tradition, but they are corny. they looked like little kids in the corner acting like we are supposed to feel sorry for them that they just got beat at home to SYRACUSE. SYRA-freaking-cuse!! i dont know if the players even know what that means, do they understand what it means to defend your home field? Its a joke. Then ND has the nerve to show me a commercial to buy a national championship football? yea ill scoop that one up for the christmas stockings. i cant even wear ND gear anymore. A combination of both but Weis continues to let up when they have a lead. I can't see this team much better next year. This is the worst loss under weis. The difference this time is we do have some player who can play and should for a couple more years. I do think a good coach can do better with the players we have. Look at our opponents? We need to expect more of our coach and of our AD. Our new AD has a chance to put his stamp on the team with a coach with head coaching experience who truly knows how to get the most out of good and great players (we have both). If we can retain 2/3 of the recruits we should be OK.

No maybe's about it...Firing him is the best decision. I don't care who we get it has to be better than CW. It would be neat to beat USC but I still want him gone! Did Ty ever embarrass us this much? Not a Ty fan but I need to be fair and the answer is NO!

Random thought, lets not fire charlie per say but get another head football coach....make him the recruiting coordinator or AD or something.....and wait until national signing day to make the call..... want to keep the recruits but charlie just isnt motivating enough, his staff is calling plays too conservative on offense, too aggressive on defense, and the team is just sloppy with no killer instinct what so ever. I have defended charlie in the past, but the team and the coaches have to finish games, i have seen 3 games lost this year because we cant drive the nail in the coffin, and it is driving me and everyone else insane. and fishbain quit posting like an idiot calling other people names...lame.

I dont think deceiving the recruits making them think Charlie is the coach will gain us much credibility. And he will never be anything other than the head coach, he will not take another position

I was one of those fans who believed that given time Weis would be the answer.
I WAS A FOOL!!
I have seen a regression since the loss to Pittsburgh that is ridiculous. The players are making mistakes that high school kids should not make. The Irish play with no passion or confidence. The offensive line is pathetically soft and the only thing they truly do well is get caught "holding".
Normally, I would not blame the coaching staff for these issues, but somebody has to take accountability and CW is the guy in charge.
