I posed this to Ironman last night, but I'm curious what others think too.
just got put in a 12 team roto league. We're using 6 hitting stats (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, and OPS) and 11 pitching stats. Clearly a lot of emphasis on pitching. It's a keeper league and we can keep up to 8 guys but every guy you keep means losing a draft pick. It's also a very deep league - we start 12 hitters (2B/SS, 1B/3B, an extra OF, and a Utility on top of the traditional hitters).
Here are my current keepers (which are subject to a salary cap)
Matt Kemp
Adrian Gonzalez
Justin Verlander
Ian Desmond
Jason Kipnis
Madison Bumgarner
Or if I make a trade I can end up with:
Matt Kemp
Justin Verlander
Allen Craig
Matt Holliday
Jason Kipnis
Madison Bumgarner
The 2nd option gives me more pop with the bat. But the first option leaves fewer holes in my lineup and gives me a top 5 SS in a year with very few good fantasy options. Keep in mind that many of the other elite fantasy players are being kept by the other teams.
Basically I'd be trading Gonzo and Desmond for Holliday, Craig, and a middle round draft pick upgrade. What do you guys think?
