Thanks so much all. I feel a bit humiliated asking for prayers. Attitude has been great, so the Docs tell me, but I'm struggling as I passed the 3 month mark. I hoped to be further along.

Look after yourselves and realize a severe headache is a stroke symptom. They don't always present typically.

Typing is laborious and reading longs post even more difficult. Sorry Whisky...

Again, thanks so mush and Go Irish!!! Cheers, Mike

You got it. Stay strong. Perhaps Whiskey will be kind enough to send you the cliff notes version :)

My list for prayers is getting longer as my family and friends (and me) get older. Happy to add you too.

We're all with you, brother, and humbled by your work in recovery - and you have been missed.

One word - podcasts. Skip the middle man and check them out at First Things, etc.

Until he responds to a request by Wizard in another thread, that is:
Whiskey, if you start a podcast where you simply narrate the articles you share into audio form so that I have time to listen to them, I promise I'll join your Patreon at the Johnnie Walker Blue Label tier or whatever.

Cheers!

Strokes effect everyone a little differently. Recovery depends on the severity of the stroke and the physical and mental condition of the patient. Don't focus on the end, it will set you up for feeling bad as you already know. Focus on the little victories and before you know it, you'll be back where you want to be.

God bless.

Thanks Brother... obviously, easier said than done.. at least in my case. Woke up this morning feeling the best I have in the past four weeks. Spent the entire morning in meetings... productive meetings! Couldn't read the outlines and supporting documents but it was the first time I felt useful since early January.

Enjoy the ride, appreciate everything you have, don't sweat the small stuff and keep some 82mg baby Aspirin handy.

All... I really appreciate the prayers and thoughts. I now recognize I'm getting old. My wife accompanies me to all my Doctor appointments and I have received a lot of Mass cards. I am very humbled.

I am reminded of a quote (unsure of the author), "among the virtues, humility is the most delicate for every time you think you have it, you probably don't".

Again, thanks, Cheers and Go Irish!!

Greenore, you doing okay?

I'm doing well, thanks for asking! Some great days and some not-so-great, but I am certain time will be my friend. Well, time and meds. I've been keeping the wife busy organizing trips to San Fran for the ND game this November and to Dublin for the Navy game next year. Have a big appointment next week to see if I get the "all clear" for travel. I'm a bit nervous about the insurance bill though,

Cheers and Go Irish!!

If you haven't already, you need to check into your insurance coverage when you're overseas (Dublin). You might need to obtain additional coverage for care there if necessary or to get you home in the event of medical necessity. Start working on it now.

Solid advice. I spoke to our insurance agent and he tells me that as long as I get the all-clear to travel from my physician, they will issue the policy to include all international travel. He did not see any additional hurdles other than a much larger premium, He "thought" the extended coverage might be around $5K annually?

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Make sure the coverage specifies they pick up the costs of an air ambulance. Have and engineer friend who was in Canada on business and got in a truck accident. Elected to air ambulance back to Northwest Indiana. His travel insurance covered the Canadian Hospital bill but not the trip home.

My Dad used to talk about you guys like you were his coffee shop buddies. He said that you, and a few others on here, were some of the wisest people he had ever encountered. Your advice on checking about insurance while overseas may be some of the best advice one could give! My cousin had a terrible fall while mountain climbing in South America last year and when he was stable enough to fly home, he had to have a medical team accompany him back. His insurance refused to pay one cent for any of his care or the flight home. He is recovering, but he will never be able to walk normally again or be able to use his right arm. When he got back to the states, he was checked into the hospital in Memphis, TN. Hours after he had gotten settled in his room, a lady from the business office came in and told him that his insurance had refused to cover ANY treatment for injuries sustained outside the U.S. Luckily, this woman was a GOD send! She told him not to give up. She was going to make some phone calls and try to get him help with the bills. The next morning, she came back and told him that a local business man had agreed to pay ALL of his medical expenses!!!
I’m not sure if he wants his name put out there for doing it, so I will just say this... I will only use FED EX for my shipping from now on!

I am PRAYING for you Greenore! Sorry I have not told you that before now, but I haven’t been on in a while!

GOD BLESS all

GO IRISH

Thanks so much Legacy and ND88!!

In the big scheme of things, my thinking is that I got off lucky and feel very fortunate for the things I still have.

It appears that the only consequence of the strokes is my vision. Everything else is fine. I 'think" my vision has improved a bit in the past three months.

This is an amazing forum. I appreciate the efforts of all the posters... with the possible exception of "Tom Haverford". LOL.

Cheers and Go Irish!!
