I wasn't interested in the result as much as I was in the substance of USA v Senegal.

That was good yesterday. Would have been good even if they hadn't gotten the win. Fingers crossed in the next couple of weeks.

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field again today. Seems his pacemaker worked as intended and he was able to walk off the field.

I think it’s high time he hangs it up. Amazing he was able to survive in 2021, and courageous for him to come back and play for a few years. But he has cheated death twice now.

Don't think so. Really like what this team is looking like everywhere but CB. Miles Robinson is worse than JAG. US largely looked equal and even more dangerous than Germany on Saturday. If Richards is in over Robinson, I am starting to believe they can make a run to the quarters with the right draw.

He's extremely popular among fans for his grit and work rate. He isn't one of these guys playing for a big club in Europe making big money. His path to where he is now is a very blue collar underdog story that most sports fans love to gravitate to.

I don't know that it was a mistake, we'll know that soon enough, but it was definitely disappointing to a lot of fans.

I say yes; but this is based on watching games only, not behind the scenes stuff.

Luna was for this team the example of never quitting on any play ever. THAT's worth something to me as a coach. And he had real skills as well. If you have Adams and McKennie in midfield, and you like Tessman (not so much by me but ...), then you must view Luna as a sub. Still I like him as an option for "sudden energy explosions" off the bench. The only reason that Aaronson is on the team is that role (and I like that from him, but Luna has been more productive.)

So I think that leaving Luna off was a bad decision, but i also don't believe that him being on the team beats Germany. We're deficient in several areas that Luna can't cure (in my opinion he'd help with midfield playmaking and midfield ball stealing but that's not enough. Our striker still isn't good enough; going with Freese still isn't good enough; not getting Ream a good partner at center back still isn't good enough.)

I wonder if someone like Christian Pulisic felt that Luna "got in his way" too much in the final third.

To an extent, although I am sure most passionate fans are going to be priced out of the final regardless of where it is played.

But more so that it's a historic venue and not a crap stadium in a parking lot in the Meadowlands.

Paraguay looks pretty good to me, with really solid physical defense (maybe a little dirty.)
They've recently beaten Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, so ....
We're lucky that their best offensive player is dinged for our game.
