Agreed. I don't think Lampard was really ready for what Chelsea is these days as manager. He did ok, probably deserved the sacking because he is underutilizing his young talent, and with the owners having a short leash, it was inevitable.

However, as a golden boy of the club, I really thought they'd give him the year to sort things out, especially with the youth in the team. I'm not liking Tuchel coming to the EPL as a fan of a rival, but we shall see.

yeah its a bit of a mess really. Apparently the older players hated him and his lack of tactical knowledge and preparation but the young kids (guessing Mason Mount etc) loved him as he's as you say, a club legend and golden boy

he deserved to get the sack but i am still shocked. Chelsea fans won't be happy. If there were crowds in the stadium they'd be totally pissed

Are Chelsea fans ever happy? Fascism is such a heavy burden.

They're buying low on Tuchel aren't they? Smart getting a German for Werner and Havertz, but it's just another cog in the Russian's big wheel of managers. Brendan Rodgers would ruin his career going there. There's always been the rumor because he was there once before, but it would be a terrible move for him.

The fact that the one of the most right wing/fascist club in England has a Jewish owner always makes me chuckle.

I guess Tuchel might be able to get Rudiger, Werner and Havertz on side but I have no idea if hes a fit personality wise. Apparently they wanted Poch but were idle and PSG pounced on him. Julian Nagelsmann is another they had on their radar (i'd take him over Tuchel any day)

Wasnt Pulisic at Dortmund when Tuchel was there? Either way Werner and Havertz have been busts so far. Werner's confidence is shit.

Also going all in on Kepa ended up being a huge miss. Not sure if that was on Lamps or Chelsea brass.

I saw a thread on Twitter where someone investigated local members of the Proud Boys and it turns out many of them are supporters of Chelsea Football Club. Small sample size, but still, it's pretty funny. If they can reach Lazio levels, it is a goal worth making note of.

I don't know that Poch would have gone to Arsenal or Chelsea. Maybe the chance will come again. I think Poch had his sights set on Man United but it appears Ole is at the wheel for good now.

Nagelsmann is going to be the wanted man, but my guess is he winds up at Bayern, of course.

I believe he was. To be fair, Fat Frank didn't know how ot use Havertz and it was pretty annoying even for me, and I despise Chelsea FC. I was disappointed that Werner didn't come to Liverpool in the end, but they got Jota instead, and he was on fire until he got injured. That injury seems to be when things started to fall apart for the Reds.

Kepa came in prior to Frank I believe. It's been a revolving door at Chelsea for decades now. Very little stability but I imagine if they were in Liverpool's current situation they would have already bought a center back this month. Same with City.

Neven Subotic played for Klopp at Dortmund. He's 32 years old and has been without a team as of Friday the 22nd.

Liverpool could get him now on a free since they're in a CB bind.

Apparently they are looking at Sokratis as well.

Klopp getting the Dortmund band back together.

It would not be a bad idea to get at least one or both on a free. Get Fabinho back in the midfield. Missing Champions League will cost them more money than a down payment on a centerback would. Can't expect Klopp to work miracles when the league keeps getting tougher. These are free no transfer guys who would only need wages until the end of the season. They can hold it down and get the midfield back to where it should be.

Sounds like they are staying in the Alaba race since his contract ends in June, too. That would be awesome. A healthy Virgil with Alaba at CB? Yes please.

Sokratis is now signed with Olympiakos.

So there's that.

I say put Origi as center back as this point.

Rhys Williams > Neven Subotic. I get the want for another CB, but think you're better off probably getting top 4 with Williams taking his lumps than Subotic adding no real value.

Heard Williams described today as playing like his is being operated by a button mashing noob on FIFA

Rhys Williams > Neven Subotic.

Ask Manchester United about this and they'll agree. Williams got exposed yesterday by Manchester United. Nathan Phillips looked out of his depth against Newcastle, and Newcastle could potentially be getting relegated in a few months. He couldn't hang.

He's 19 years old and was on loan with Kidderminster Harriers a year ago. What the fuck is Kidderminster Harriers? It sounds like something from Downton Abbey. No offense to any Kidderminster Harriers supporters out there.

I know the kid is trying his best and he's been placed in an unfair situation, but there is way too much at stake here.

I think Klopp starting Williams yesterday was a signal flare to ownership. I need a centerback because we never replaced Lovren and if we don't buy now, we may not make Top Four and the Champions League money lost will outweigh whatever we buy now in the transfer window.

I feel bad for the kid. I don't blame him at all.

Fergie, Guardiola, Mourinho, etc. would NEVER have gone into a campaign with three senior team centerbacks. This was a massive gamble knowing Matip and Gomez have had injury histories recently. Fabinho is the best defensive midfielder in the world when fit and they have him playing centerback. Thiago is playing deep when he should be up higher.

Everything is thrown off with this and now they're in a dire situation that could cost them Top Four. They should be doing everything to back the manager and keep their relationship with him strong.

That's just smart negotiating

Yeah. Considering he'd be the highest paid player on the team and they all took pay cuts due to Covid, plus Real also being linked with both Mbappe and Stade Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga along with Sergio Ramos' situation still up in the air, I'm sure it's Euro Art of the Deal going on.

the kid's lack of pace is just frightening and he'd be grand on a team lower down the table who sits back and protects him with CDM's but Liverpool's style just does not suit him at all, he stands out like a sore thumb

That's what agents do. They try to get the best deal possible. It's not that difficult to understand unless you're willing to talk yourself into anything.

He belongs in League One, League Two. He's starting in FA Cup matches at Old Trafford.

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

The deal was reported "done" six days ago. It is not, in all likelihood. I have no allusions of him actually coming to Liverpool, but if Real, Barca and Arsenal got every player they were supposed to get there wouldn't be enough trophies for everyone.

Real and Barca are both hurting finanically. La Liga has been hit particularly hard by Covid. Real isn't in as bad of shape as Barca is.

The real loser here is Bayern because he's not going back there and he's walking on a free as one of their most valuable players right now. Rarely sucks to be them, but in this instance, it does.

Gundogan says the best manager he's ever had is Tuchel, and he's played for both Guardiola and Klopp.

Tuchel is also known for falling out with his superiors at the previous clubs he's managed, which should work out just fine at Chelsea.

Barcelona have asked Goldman Sachs, Allianz, Barings, Amundi and Prudential to delay outstanding debts so that the club can avoid potential insolvency. Barcelona are said to have a negative working capital of €601.8m and have imminent debts of €300m. (Source - El Confidential)

Barcelona potentially have the biggest rebuilding job of any team in recent memory:

Pique - 33
Messi - 33
Busquets - 32

Reports suggest they have 13 players on 100k+ a week. 4 of those on over 200k. 3 on over 400k. 2 on over 800k. 1 on more than a million.

Send Coutinho back to Liverpool and call it square.
