Great to see, the way he is playing even if Schalke get relegated he will almost certainly get picked up by a Bundesliga side in the summer.

The more options USMNT have as a number 9 moving forward can only be a good thing. Especially seeing for about 7-10 years all we had was Jozy (who fun fact never scored a goal at a World Cup)

Fortunate result for City today, kind of result you need to win the title at the end of season. The offsides rule is confusing in the situations which happened today, but by the letter of law it was a "fair" goal. Although, I admit if I was a Villa fan I would be pissed.

Yeah, he should get a good look, though I guess we could see if he can keep up even half this pace. 10 goals earns him a move to mid tier IMO. If he scores less, I think another year with Schalke could do him good, whether it is in the Bundesliga or 2.Bundesliga. 2.Bundesliga could give him a real opportunity to play on a top side and bang in a ton of goals, or maybe determine that this spree is just an anomaly.

As you say, nice to have some options here at 9. Between Jozy (do not want, but we know Gregg is gonna consier him) who is somehow only 31, Sargent, Hoppe, and Giacchini, they should find at least someone competent there to go with their slew of stud midfielders and wingers.

That is a great stat! Thanks for sharing.

Adding that onto Weston helping Juventus win a trophy today...what a great day for USMNT in European football.

Congrats to McKennie on winning the SuperCup. He got to throw the cup up too! I also saw a video of him and Cuadrado and Ronaldo dancing gn at the train station.

Looks like he is very much an integral part of Juve. What a year he has had.

Very happy for McKennie and hope he makes that a permanent move. Kinda funny, I remember when the move was announced the experts were saying if he gets 10-15 appearances it would be a success. He’s already at 20, most of which have been starts.

I watched the foreign (English) version of the televised match and the commentators were all saying that McKennie is the best MF on their team and they are a different (poorer) team without him. Looking at the other MF's on that team, that is saying something.

Just seeing his interactions with the first team and it seems he is well liked and respected.

Liverpool will not score or get a VAR decision ever again.

Top 4 battle coming. No title, no Champions League. Bottom fell out.

Shocking. No gradual decline. Straight to shit.

What’s been the issue scoring? Figured most of their issues would be defensive. Haven’t really watched them much this year.

Aimless and wasteful again. Ill be honest I am not sure Thiago is gelling well with the team. I think he might be causing tempo problems. Sure he is world class and likely the best MF on the team but there seems to be a disconnect.

Also Origi needs to go. What a clod. How the hell did he miss that shot?

They need to look closer to home. Simple as that. Officiating is shit every week for all 20 clubs. They’ve been poor on top of that. Defending isn’t the issue.

Every single team plays them 10 behind the ball outside of a few. They need to figure it out. It’s been this way for 3 years.

If they had 4 senior centerbacks I doubt they’re in this situation.

This won’t get better. Salah and Mane will leave. Gini is going to walk for free. Highly doubt they finish Top 4.

I saw TAA was 0/18 on crosses today. Also he gave the ball away 38 times last week in one game. His defense is overlooked when he is assisting but not assisting and not great at defense is not a good combo. lol

I believe in addition to coming off of injury, he'd previously had Covid. Whatever it is, he's not been playing like the guy of the last two years. It would help if they could get some goals and assists out of the midfield but that's not how this team plays. The officiating is shit and they can't seem to get a break lately, but it is shit for everyone and when you are not playing well it just adds to the mix of things.

Everyone is going to play ten men behind the ball and wait it out now. They'll take a draw or 1-0 win like Southampton and Burnley did. Up to Klopp to fix it.

They have been on a serious run for the last three years. It takes it's toll. It took it's toll on Klopp's Dortmund team in 14-15, it took it's toll on City last year. To play for Klopp and Guardiola requires a high level of play and mental toughness. They might be hitting the bump now as that Dortmund Club did and City did last year. Both of those squads had tremendous two year runs. Liverpool went to two consecutive Champions League finals and won the title last year knowing they'd probably have to get to 100 points to win it. During Covid.

Perhaps it is all catching up to them now. Wouldn't be the first time it has happened to a club. I don't know that they can win the title this year, but with Covid, who knows what will happen. Look at where things were a month ago. Come one month from now, who knows.

I'm pretty cynical by nature, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think not having fans in the stands isn't affecting Liverpool. I think we knew certain clubs and players were going to react both positively and negatively to empty stadiums. Certain players and clubs feed off of those crowds. That's a major part of how Jurgen Klopp approaches the game. He may need to tweak some things. They don't appear to be getting any transfer help until summer.

He had a man of the match game today. Impeccable.

He has 4 goals and 2 assists. Best of the MF on Juventus under Pirlo

Former Union homegrowns Mark McKenzie and Brendan Aaronson each made their competitive debuts today for Genk and RB Salzburg, respectively. Hoping this can be a new normal for MLS academies.

Ever since we brought in Ernst Tannner as our sporting director he has blatantly disregarded the SuperDraft and more or less given Jim Curtin little choice but to look at the academy, which has been very good even beyond McKeznie/Aaronson. Three straight drafts with zero picks, gotta love it.

If the USMNT wants to grow they need to start allowing kids to go pro out of high school. 21-22 yo kids trying to go abroad isn’t working IMO. The Gio’s Pulisic’ and McKennies are the future. Not Trapp or Roldan

I mean, they are? There are plenty of teenagers on pro contracts in MLS.

I do think that any promising young player should not even think about the NCAA. I'm pretty sure MLS academies have started scholarship funds to help these players out if their pro careers never take off and they want to go back to school.

I kind of misspoke. I really meant that a lot of young talent could be capitalized better if they didn’t go to college. Apologies for they way that was written.

Not our year....gotta get shit fixed so we can stay top 4.

That would require buying a centerback, and I don't think the owners want to do that until summer because Covid is causing them to serve less than fresh lobster on their yachts. That being said, I'm not buying the "FSG Out" goobers on social media, but Klopp deserves the backing of ownership to this point and if he needs a center back they should go and get one this week.

Liverpool’s record when Thiago starts:
2D 3L

Considering the other 2/3 of the midfield that should be starting with him has been playing centerback and or injured, I'm going to give him a pass. The guy is actually world class fucking brilliant and anyone suggesting he's the issue may want to pump the breaks on that a tad.

Lampard out. Tuchel in

Wasn't long before Putin gave the order.

he deserved to get the sack but i am still shocked. Chelsea fans won't be happy. If there were crowds in the stadium they'd be totally pissed

Agreed. I don't think Lampard was really ready for what Chelsea is these days as manager. He did ok, probably deserved the sacking because he is underutilizing his young talent, and with the owners having a short leash, it was inevitable.

However, as a golden boy of the club, I really thought they'd give him the year to sort things out, especially with the youth in the team. I'm not liking Tuchel coming to the EPL as a fan of a rival, but we shall see.

Frank's biggest accomplishment was telling Klopp to fuck off. Then Trent Alexander Arnold subsequently buried a free kick for a goal.
