I think they do wonderful things for young players' development. Clubs don't really have too much incentive to use a struggling player who is on loan, but if he is there on a 'permanent' basis, it is very different.

I agree. Rarely do they get utilized, though.

Classic JM. Find a good player to make some sort of an example of and drive them from the team. Dele has been inconsistent, but he is being singled out for some crazy reason. I don't see him making it through the summer transfer window, unfortunately.

I would rather drive Mourinho to the bus station and send him out of town...

So what is going on with Dele Ali? Why is on he the outs in Tottenham?

They just paid a shitload of money to borrow Bale. Does he fit the system tactically under Jose?

I have no doubt they could sell Alli off to PSG, Real, etc. and get good money for him. I think there is a push to assume there is some sort of conflict between he and Jose, but in reality maybe he is now a round peg in a square hole?

I don't know. Never really a fan of the kid, TBH. If there is a Spurs player I am keen on, it's Son all day long.

This does come into play. He was perfect for the high pressure system that Pochettino loved to play. His athleticism and speed were perfect for that system. Mourihno's 4-2-3-1 jut doesn't fit Deli all that well.

Salah and DeBruyne were also not fits for Mourinho. So it goes. I think the game has passed him by, but we'll see. He has won everywhere he's been but eventually wears out his welcome. Sack him and I don't know where Spurs would turn to next.

Dele could be off to PSG. Spurs also have their transfer history with Real.

Even in the Covid market, Dele should yield a very nice return for them. 24 years old.

I'm so torn. It does seem like he doesn't fit Mou's system that well, but I also think many Spurs fans underestimate Dele's positional flexibility. He's actually been really good over the past 2 years, he's just been hurt a lot.

He played almost 6,000 minutes from 2016/17 and 2017-18 and only 3,600 minutes in the EPL the last 2 years. When he's fit, he's been productive.

I also think Dele has suffered maybe more than anyone on the team from the loss of Dembele, Eriksen, and what used to be England's best fullback duo. He needs that type of support and it's gone now.

My issue is, even if they can get $80 million for him where is that money being spent this window with so little time left? He's the #1 realistic big money sale at the club right now and I'm not comfortable letting him go this late in the window without 3 more really strong signings based off that money.

All signs point to those signings not happening. Spurs do need the money though, they are already deep in the red for this window.

Rumors that Liverpool have agreed to a fee with Watford for Sarr today. Seems unlikely since they signed Jota on Friday and reportedly said they were done brining in players.

This would be quite a surprise.

Really professional performance yesterday by City. Numerous big players out through injuries/COVID, and still went to one of hardest away grounds in England and got the three points.
Schedule makers did them no favors with Leicester City on matchday 2 as well.
They look to have got a real good player in Timothy Castagne to replace Chilwell

Jules Kounde seems to be the new flavor of the week in the Manchester City transfer market, we shall see if it is just a smoke screen for Koulibaly or it really has some legs.

Have never been a huge fan of CB's under six feet in the PL...but if Pep and Tixi want him then I'll trust their judgement.

Do Bale and Kane mix well on the pitch? Systemically or elsewise?

They played together on the pitch for Spurs twice, and it wasn't very long. I think you will find that Bale is going to take a lot of star power off of Kane, and that should work for Kane just fine. Kane is their best player and their talisman, but Bale's presence alone will take a lot of pressure off of Kane. Important to note that Walker and Eriksen are gone, Dele and Rose could be moving along next.

With Bale being there, Harry Kane should feel less pressure and have some of the limelight taken off of him. Wouldn't be suprised to see Kane perform at a higher level provided he stays fit.

Cant believe they spent 70mil on him and he washed out. Goalkeepers are so fragile (confidence wise)

This purchase happened right after Liverpool purchased Allison, didn't it?

I think Kepa can go back to La Liga and someone will get the most out of him. His time at Chelsea is clearly over with, though.

They still need to sort out their defense. Regardless, they're playing for third and a Champions League spot. They're not a Liverpool or City's level.

Re: Bale/Kane

My view of Bale is that he's best when the scheme allows him to roam about a lot and not just stay wide (as Son usually does) and therefore possibly be in "Kane's space." When Son invades the closer-to-goal space he seems to largely defer to Kane's presence, but one would doubt that would be Bale's m.o.

As a Man United fan, I have zero room to talk about over paying for players and expensive players flopping.

Yeah... I hate to say it but Pogba is such a bust (IMO) and there are probably 9 other players at of the starting 11 and bench on that roster that have no business playing for ManU.

It reminds me of the years after Benitez at Liverpool. We had Stuart Downing, Joe Cole, and old Craig Bellamy, and Paul Konchesky (lol).

I think Koulibaly is the best choice. I have been watching him at Napoli for a few years now (since we played them in the CL). Very impressed though I dont know much about Kounde.

I think the team around Pogba that last few years has changes his roll. Once Fernandes came on (and everyone wasn't tired because we have zero depth), he was playing so much better.

It seems like, since SAF left, it's been over pay for players who aren't great. Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Fernandes, Maguire, and Wan Bissaka all deserve to be on the team. De Get has been rough the past few years and I think Henderson will either push him to be better or push him out. Lindelof is so inconsistent, Bailly is good when he isn't hurt, but he's always hurt. Shaw is decent and works well with Rashford, but we could use an upgrade there. We don't have a DM outside of Matic who is old and can't play all the time. Fred and McTominay are super inconsistent... Rant over.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal with Watford for the signing of Ismaila Sarr.

France Football claim the Reds have reached an agreement over a transfer worth €35-€40m, and will now discuss personal terms with the winger.

They also suggest that the arrival of Diogo Jota does not impact Liverpool's interest in Sarr.

However, they claim Aston Villa have also entered negotiations for Sarr and could land him ahead of the Premier League champions with the 22-year-old favouring the opportunity of regular starting football at Villa Park.

Interesting.

Sounds like any talk of signing a center half is off now. Fabinho will be the fourth choice.

He looked really good on Sunday vs Chelsea.

I dont see the Sarr signing as a smart move. Expensive for a bench player. He isnt pushing Mane or Salah off the field any time soon. He is young though but 40mil is high.

Watford just got relegated. I'm sure they want to get what they can for him. If Michael Edwards thinks it is okay, then I'd be fine with it.

Provides cover for those guys off the bench. Shaqiri is probably on the move. I have no problem with depth, regardless of the cost. That's for them to figure out. Recent Chelsea and City teams have had depth that could finish in the top half of the table.

Only issue would be with AFCON potentially happening, Sarr would be gone with Salah and Mane.

Rumor was he was looking at Aston Villa too because he'll get more playing time. Honestly, I am not holding my breath, but if they were to sign him on top of Thiago and Jota.....

France Football report that Liverpool are not done with recruitment in attacking positions this window & that talks are still on with Ismaila Sarr (Watford) & another approach has been made for the loan of Ousmane Dembélé (Barcelona).

I'll pass the fuck out.
