Bournemouth have accepted City's $41M bid for Nathan Ake. As they should.

With Laporte, that's two left footed center backs.

He young and a solid player. Better deal than what United paid for Maguire. Still feels like splashing money on problems, which doesn't necessarily make things better.

Ake is another former Chelsea player moving along.

Yeah, Ake is a solid pick up for $41M.

I haven't heard anything on Ederson. His distribution is pretty good, and he's a great keeper. Didn't like how he reacted after he knocked Garcia out against Arsenal, but that doesn't take away from how good he is. Would be interesting to see if Chelsea go for him. I just can't see Chelsea paying that much for Oblak. I've thought they should go for Onana at Ajax, but that's just me.

Any time Mbappe is rumored to move and it isn't to Madrid, I don't listen to it. I think he ends up there some day and he's fine with PSG paying him until that move comes.

Move will easily pay for itself with the money the club will make from selling John Stones and Otamendi this summer and getting their wages of the books.

Lewis $ucking Dunk was being quoted at around this price last summer, it is what it is.
He is a solid player that can also play LB, and will allow us to possibly play some three at the back formations next season.

The biggest question this summer for City in the CB department is their ability to hold on to Eric Garcia. The club can not continue to talk big about bringing along academy players into the first team, and then let those same players leave the second another big club comes sniffing about. (I.E. Jadon Sancho)

Not trying to be an A-hole....but there is literally zero chance of Ederson leaving Manchester City this summer.

He is the perfect keeper for Peps style of play, and it would make absolutely no sense to sell him.

Zack Steffen will probably play close to 10-15 games next season, and practice against some of the best players in the world everyday while getting some of the best coaching in the world. I think it will be a great learning year, for hopefully USMNT #1 for the next decade.

City, since 2017, have spent $317M on defenders. That's mental.

The move for Ake was predictable. Probably makes sense for all parties involved. Really don't mind it. I don't see it as a massive upgrade for them.

Ake seems like a good kid. He's going to have a lot more eyes on him now.

My bad for making it seem like they'd move Ederson. I really doubt they would, just didn't come off that way in my reply! It seems like Chelsea is sniffing around all the goalkeepers. They were sniffing around Dean Henderson and now it sounds like United is going to throw more money at him, so they can loan him to Sheffield again this next season. I think De Get has one year left, then it's Henderson's job.

Dean Henderson is a good goalkeeper. Has a really good chance to be England's number one for Euros next summer and into Qatar 2022. Jordan Pickford's days are numbered, would not even be shocked if Ancelotti brings in competition for him this summer. Nick Pope will be vying for England's number one job as well.

Per Sky Sports: Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and Reuben Brothers have withdrawn from the process to buy Newcastle United.

Even if I think the 40mil reported fee is maybe 5-10 more than he should really be worth, we're getting Torres for at least 20mil less than he should be worth, so not upset in the slightest. Gives us a second left footed CB, now we're still on the hunt for a second right footed one to add to Garcia (rumors are that Barca's 'interest' is solely to appease their fans and act like they tried to get him back, I guess we'll see). Ake is fast, homegrown, and can play left back in a pinch. Given that Pep has experimented with Laporte at left back in important games in the past, this would seem like a much more natural fit if things come to that.

I honestly think you spend more time in this thread talking about City than you do Liverpool

1. Maybe. They're relevant. I could talk about Arsenal, but would any fucks be given?

2. I'm doing it in a soccer thread, which no moderator should have an issue with.

I feel bad for Newcastle supporters. Proper supporters, town and club. Honestly, though, the rest of the Premier League dodges a bullet with this falling through.

For now.

I honestly feel bad for Arsenal fans.

Owned by a dude who is worth 10 billion and married to a Walton, but he seems to give zero fuck$ about making them a title contending squad.

I knew you'd see that.

My brother in law is a huge Arsenal fan. My kids always give him the business everytime we get together.

"Uncle Patsy, how many Champions Leagues have you seen before?"

Once again, truer words have never been spoken.

Should be competing for Leagues every year and should have much better showings in Europe. Not a fan of London clubs, but out of them all, Arsenal is probably the one I can handle the most.

Man United knocked Liverpool off their perch in the 90s but Arsenal helped keep them down another peg, too. I always liked Wenger and how he conducted business.

Frank Lampard saw the UEFA Super Cup, English Premier League and FA Cups get lifted by opponents this past season.

Reports that Manchester United are ready to make a record transfer fee for Sancho. I have no doubt that Dortmund will turn and flip that money incredibly wisely.

Liverpool's wage bill is around $330-350 million, depending on the source. Salah leads the way making about $290,000 per week.

Man U will likely be pushing closer to $400 million for their wage bill, although having Sanchez gone permanently will help.

i saw 300K as the weekly wage for Sancho which would be below De Gea and Sanchez when he was on the books

What in the hell do you pay Virgil Van Dijk knowing this?

Salah, Mane and Firmino are all in their late 20s. They have just come off of Champions League and Premier League titles. Sancho is 20 years old and was part of a team that won a German Super Cup. Has the world gone mental?

This Sancho business signifies, to me at least, that if Real, Barca and or PSG come calling for any of those three Liverpool players Michael Edwards is sitting pretty. That plus City and Chelsea had better keep digging for more oil. Holy Moses.

Liverpool's pursuit of Norwich left back Jamal Lewis has become quite public. Bid was $10M and Norwich want $20M. Sounds like a second bid of $15M will get things moving.

Also reports that City and Koulibaly's people are going to meet next week.
