Liverpool's pursuit of Norwich left back Jamal Lewis has become quite public. Bid was $10M and Norwich want $20M. Sounds like a second bid of $15M will get things moving.

Also reports that City and Koulibaly's people are going to meet next week.

The "reports" seem to indicate he will be on the move somewhere this summer with City the most likely option.

He has stated in numerous interviews he has no desire to move though, and would like to retire at Napoli. However, it may be Napoli's management team asking him to say such things to help with the negotiations on transfer fee amount. Manchester City and Napoli have a very strained relationship, because of transfer negotiations in the past where City felt Napoli behaved unprofessionally...so believe me this is not going to be straightforward by any means.

It seems like the logical decision for him to leave this summer. Napoli is not in Champs League next year (unless they make an improbable run and win it this season) and he is going to be 29 and deserves to play for major trophies in the final seasons of his prime.

I doubt anything will happen before Napoli are officially out of the Champions League this year, so should be a drawn out saga throughout August.

If Napoli are getting Oshimen from Lille for the fee that is being reported, they're going to need to sell some players. Koulibaly makes a lot of sense to finance that move.

Koulibably should have a couple of good years left in him. I did find this article rather interesting, however:

Good article, thanks for sharing.

It would be a big risk to pay a large sum for a 29 year old...but trying to get a CB that can play Pep's style is the hardest job Txiki Begiristain has had during his tenure. It is the most difficult position in the team with how aggressive and high up the field City play, and it has been obvious to anybody who has watched them play this year in big games that the options they have right now are not cutting it.

Stones and Otamendi have been good servants to the club, and have played big parts in numerous trophy wins the past few seasons, but they both need new clubs this summer and hopefully will help fund the Koulilbaly deal.

Lastly, news broke yesterday that Eric Garcia is most likely going to leave this summer for Barca...which makes City getting another First team CB this transfer season even more important. Therefore, I have to think they will pay the asking price of Napoli and get their main target this year.

Yeah, if we can get fair sums for Garcia, Stones and Nico, I won't worry about overpaying for Koulibaly. Next year could very well be Laporte, KK, Ake and Tosin Adarabioyo, with Harwood-Bellis possibily getting more cup minutes.

Edit: actually don't really even care about the fair sums part. As long as we aren't straight up robbed at gunpoint for them and can get Stones/Nico off the wage bill.

Koulibaly didn't have his best day vs Barca. Messi looked like Messi. I am liking Bayern to win it all but maybe this is finally's PSG's year? They have a clear path to the final on paper it seems, especially with two Athleti players testing positive for Covid.

Appears Sancho is staying with Dortmund.

Liverpool sign Konstantinos Tsmikas at left back from Olympiakos. I have only seen him play once and that was his last match in Europa League. He looked boss. Robertson needs the coverage. I trust Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp above all else. Didn't need to find his YouTube highlights to pretend like I know anything about him either.

Sounds like Norwich would not budge on their price tag on Jamal Lewis. Feel bad for him since he wanted the move. Hope he can get a move away to a better club. Liverpool/Klopp showing interest should surely draw other clubs in.

Die Roten lookin' real good lately:

F*ck France Football for cancelling the Ballon d'Or this year instead of giving it to Lewandowski, who clearly deserves it.

Norwich was a trainwreck, but Jamal Lewis at LB and Max Aarons at RB were legit. The fact they didn't sell them has me wondering if they'll try to loan them out for the year and make it back to the Prem or just outright sell both.

They'd find a way to give it to someone else anyway. A Bundesliga player has not won since Matthias Sammer in 1996.

FC Bayern was my first soccer love. Really miss their team from seven or eight years ago. FC Hollywood before they went full blown Hollywood under Guardiola.

Not sure I love this move for Antonee on the surface.
Enda Stevens is solidified as the left wing back in Sheffield United team, and is a good player for their wing back system.

Antonee has a good chance to be the starting left back in Qatar for the USMNT, the move he makes this summer will play a big part in that becoming a reality. He needs to be playing week in and week out against good competition, not sitting on the bench and playing cup matches only.

With Wigan going into Administration he can be bought for 2 million, so there should be plenty of interested parties.

Mario Goetze linked with FC Cincy lol

Is he the most sudden fall from grace in the modern game? Maybe him and Torres?

2014 he scores a VERY nice winner in the World Cup.

Afterwards, a shadow of himself.

Wonder how much Bayern could have sold him for following the World Cup...man that would have been big money.

I believe he had a heart condition that hindered his progression.

Congrats to Athletico Madrid on winning the "We Beat Liverpool" Trophy.

One day, Nagelsmann is going to be the manager of Bayern Munich, which will then suck for all of World Football as much as it does Germany. Their domestic dominance puts them in a similar situation to Juve and PSG: top goal is Champions League. The rest is expected and anything short of it is disappointing and or an upset.

Rumors that City lining up a $40M move for Harry Winks and Jose is fine with selling him.

Kinda crazy RBL wasn’t even a club 12 years ago. An American scoring the goal to push them through to the semis is great too.

Bayern on fire today, Barca are a total farce tbh. They've become soulless since they accepted all that Qatar money

It'll be awhile I think before they are "Barca" again. They were able to ride that train of talent they developed for a long time and then really didn't adequately replace any of them.

Bayern Munich looks like they are back.

7-2 right now...my God.

Coutinho with a goal and an assist in like 10 minutes on the pitch.

8-2 Coutinho scores again.

Absolutely exposed. Thought City was a good bet to win this damn thing but Bayern are a wagon.

Poor Messi. The end of an era

Cold blooded to send him on, a player who still belongs to Barca but is currently on loan to Bayern, to score the final two goals.
