y'all see that madness at Everton today???

Split fans are pretty notorious. I met a branch of their fans in Dubrovnik a few years ago and they were an interesting bunch. They would travel on buses to games in Germany and Italy (36 hour journeys in some cases). Very dedicated bunch haha, they aren't the worst though considering how extremely violent some of the other teams' fans in the Balkans can be

Well looks like roberts is going back to celtic. I just wish we were selling him instead of loaning him again. He turned down offers from PL and Ligue 1. No ambition.

Ambition, geez... smh... Dude it's his life long dream team... he knows the squad, is very good friends with a couple players, is adored by fans and gets to play in Champions league for one of the biggest clubs in the world... that's better than some middling epl or french team...

I'll also have it noted that reports I'm seeing on my side say Celtic wanted a sale with a three year contract... Roberts was on board, but City wouldn't sell.

Real Madrid kicked Barca's butt so completely in these two games that Barca isn't even near that level anymore. We'll see if anyone is, I guess. .... pretty disappointing for soccer in general in my opinion. It's good to have more than one monster (a la Alabama --- which is the only saving grace of OSU and maybe Clemson.)

Fc Bayern is still right there with Madrid. At least on a good day. They have been slipping as well, can't believe they only won one champions league during the last decade. But yes...Madrid is terrifyingly good. Its fun to see big clubs be humbled. Would love to see Barca miss the top 4 somehow but I'm about 99% sure that's impossible.

They had a once in a lifetime generation of guys at their peak...all from their academy...at the same time. Scary good.

Now that they finally restructured the way Barca and Real get their money it may show on both of them... maybe Barca is just showing the effects first.

I believe Lamm is retired but do not follow these things like old fans do. If true, his overlapping runs liberated Robbin to do his magic anywhere on his side of the final third that he wanted. Lamm also was the leader for the team and in the Engine Room. Vidal could be, but he's such a wild man that he's almost an entity too different to be the team core stabilizer.

If Lamm must be replaced, then it is my opinion that you cannot really replace him --- just as Barca cannot replace the younger version of Iniesta.

Southampton is a top half english team and Nice might still make UCL. If it's his ultimate goal/dream to play for Celtic then fine, sell him permanently, nbd. But the fact of the matter is that the quality in Scotland is embarrassing, and if he actually wants to make it at the very top level one day, then he needs bigger challenges. Another year playing against farmers isn't going to prepare him to make the City squad next year, so I guess we'll just loan him again in 12 months, it's a waste of time for everyone involved. I can completely understand him loving Celtic, his teammates, the fans, etc. But if he values that over making it at the top level/having a chance to represent England at the senior level, then City have much bigger fish to fry.

Like finding a way to actually beat an embarrassing team from an embarrassing league called Celtic?? I don't know if you forgot but mighty city had two shots last year...

It's funny I was just reading an article yesterday of all things detailing how the gap between the epl and spl is a fairly new dynamic and how Scottish teams actually held the head to head until the last decade when the epl had the money flood in and thus actually drained both money and talent from Scotland. On your opinion of Scotland... "embarrassing"??... Have you HONESTLY ever watched a single game?? I tend to find those who shit on it are 1-English fans, 2-often have never even watched a Scottish match outside of MAYBE an old firm game. It's a very physical league and plenty of top international players have come through Parkhead.

Gabriel has left Arsenal to join Valencia on a 5 year deal. Not the best CB for Arsenal, but he was playing better last year, did well to fill in at RB when Hector was out. He is a hustler and certainly would fill in well in the 3 man back Wenger is employing.

Don't know how letting him go helps the holes in the back.

Celtic aren't embarrassing, although I have a feeling this year's City would run circles around last year's City team. Maybe we'll get a rematch this year. There is nothing you can say to convince me the rest of that league isn't total shite. Scott fucking sinclair looks like a world-beater in that league.

I really don't have anything against Celtic, and I'm not upset that Roberts wants to be there. He looked miles behind 17 year-old Foden and 18 year-old Brahim in preseason. He's clearly not ready for the big time. I am simply not impressed with Patty's mentality, I don't even see how it's debatable to say that a player looking to break into City's first team and the England senior team should go to Southampton/Nice over Celtic, given the option. If those aren't his ultimate goals, then fine.

You seem awfully bitter.

Maybe Sinclair fits in with Rodgers (He also looked really good in UCL for the record)?? Maybe Patty does too? Maybe he's a better manager than what you could get from other potential suitors and a quality manager actually can impact a player?? You're the one that came at this all bent out of shape throwing stuff out here, I'm just responding to it. You also never addressed having never watched the league so I'll assume that's a hit.

I’ll put this is terms you can grasp:

You are on a collective CFB board. A big recruit signs for Notre Dame over some fairly new blood program, say Oregon I suppose but you can insert whoever you like… Oregon fan starts going off on how the recruit in question has no ambition because Notre Dame plays a shit schedule, will never win a big bowl game again let alone a natty and playing service academies every week will never prep him for the NFL… the good old days are long gone in South Bend. If he had any ambition at all he’d have signed with us, a real deal program, or at least gone to the SEC or something.

You’d take issue with that on multiple levels… that’s where we are with this.

I mean obviously we're not going to change each other's minds, so maybe we should stop trying lol. Maybe we'll get that UCL rematch ;)

Spurs with a massive signing in Davinson. Offers three things to the club: stability in the position, options to run 3 at the back, possible cover if Toby were to depart.

Large Colombian population where I live, so I have watched him play a bit.

Jumping into the prem is tough for defenders, so we shall see.

Arriba, el Cafetero!

No one watches the SPL because it's roughly the 34th best European league.

Celtic just dropped 4 points all year in league play and grabbed 3 points in the CL group stage. 3 points in the Euro group stage the prior year, too. Let's call a spade a spade here!

Yep the last ten years have been rough on Scotland but they're far from your stated opinions here... especially historically, but even now as well. Nothing I've said is really provocative or statistically debatable... like at all... Celtic has made four Euro knockout stages in the last decade, a euro final in the last 15 years and have won champions league in their history... just a tad bit of respect is basically all that's asked for, but English fans are what they are...

I respect and like Celtic a lot. I'm talking about the SPL as a whole right now.

I'm excited. Sounds like Foyth and Aurier (maybe!?) are coming up next. Doesn't look like anything much will be coming in on the attacking side, unless Keita Diao or Cheick Diapo jump on board.

Spurs got 10% of the Sigurdsson sale to Everton, too. :)

Celtic come out asleep in the second half... obviously looked/looks likes its all done but they give up two very quick, very cheap goals... asleep. Kind of frustrating.

I'm jacked for the Liverpool game tomorrow. That last-minute goal they gave up might be a killer. Should be a fun game.

Me too, so pumped.

It will be interesting to see how they line up. I don't see how Klopp can keep Robertson out of the team, considering how good he was on Saturday. (You could argue that Klavan should start over Lovren, but imo that's a toss-up; both players are error-prone, Klavan slightly less so, but Lovren is more athletic and better able to recover from mistakes.) I also think Milner should start in midfield along with Can, although I am torn on whether the third midfielder should be Henderson or Gini. Gini's work rate is exemplary but he lacks a bit of creativity; Henderson's passing range is great to have in the 6 spot but he is not playing like he is fully fit, although that might just be early-season rust after sitting out most of last season.
