I can't believe this run Arsenal has made thus far. It's still early so I am trying to keep my optimism in check, but they are playing great with key injuries. Can't wait to see the full team with Podolski, Walcott, Ox, and even a more healthy TV5 to give Mert and Kos breathers in the back. A key signing come January could push us even further.
I completely agree with you here. I am really excited the way that Arsenal is playing and can't wait for all the injured players to return. They are going to play a beautiful passing game and personally I think they are the best team; I think the game against Chelsea (Oct 29) and Liverpool (Nov. 2) will pretty much settle the first half table. (The two Manchester clubs are not going to be there in my opinion) Moreover, the U-19 team and the League Cup performance just gets me excited as well.

Personally though I don't think Arsenal should make any more big signings in January. Or perhaps knowing Wenger's style they might not sign anyone other than a pre-contract or some wonderkid. I think Sanogo, Podolski, Bendtner and Akpom will make a great striker team; I hope Bendtner finds his form as he was highly touted a few years back (his ego seems to be in place as well). Maybe I am believer in giving the youth a chance to play, kids who are born Gooner fans (well most of them anyways) and/or trained from a young age to play the Arsenal way: kids like Bellerin, Hayden, Eisfeld, Jack Jebb (the new Wilshere), Akpom, Zelalem (the new Fabregas) and Ryo should get an opportunity to acclimate themselves with first team as the will be the backbone in four to five years time.

Manchester City gets down early 1-0 and literally a minute later Alvaro Negredo equalizes. Absolutely love this guy. Him and Aguero up top is probably one of the best forward pairings in the world.

The City defense is crap though, including Joe Hart. I know Joe Hart is a beast, but he really isn't on his form right now.

Why did I check this thread??? I'm recording the game while watching Sesame Street w my daughter lol. Dude, Joe Hart has been playing like crap for quite a while now. Crazy to see how his game has fallen off. Confidence for a goalkeeper is everything.

Negredo and Navas were awesome signings for you guys. Says a lot of the Spanish national team that these 2 and guys like Isco, Mata, Santi, and scores of others ride the pine. Just hope the new generation has the same hunger as the current one did. I digress...looking forward to watching the EPL this weekend!

Haha I won't divulge anymore information other than the first half was very, very exciting.

Navas just gives City so much width. City's signings this offseason of Negredo, Navas, and Fernandinho have just all worked out amazingly so far. Haven't seen much from Jovetic yet, but he is young.

Suarez and Sturridge as a partnership with Coutinho in the hole behind them is salivating. Enrique and Johnson as wing backs providing the width and I'm pretty happy with our CBS. Gerrard seems to be on his last legs, so another deep lying playmaker, some competition for Lucas, and I like the way 'Pool is setting up. Long way to go yet, just gotta maintain.

Gerrard actually looked pretty good today. Yes, Suarez & Sturridge up front is scary. Time will tell if Sturridge can keep this form for an entire season. I don't think has never started this many games in a row in his career. LP is so exciting to watch right now.

Sturridge and Suarez are very dynamic. Sterling gave far too many away today and looked lost at times. I do not have too much to complain about. Shall looked a bit shaky but he was in the thug places most times. I did not like the idea of 3 CBs but so far seems to be working.

El Tri had better get on their knees and tell us they love us thanks to that win last night in Panama. Nothing would have made me happier last night than to see Mexico eliminated, but I am happy our boys won and tied the CONCACAF Hex record. Here's to hoping New Zealand knocks off Mexico in a month.

At first I was mad but then we took care of our own business in the end and Mexico did not. Now they are stuck playing another game half-way around the world. Overall, I am stoked our team played as well as they did all cycle. Jurgen will have his hands full choosing a roster.

On a side note I wanted someone to tackle Johansen. I screamed at the tv "take him out someone pleaseeeee!!!!" LOL.

Bragging rights over Mexico forever though.

Actually, we will never ever, ever, hear the end of it if Mexico turns around, and knocks us out of the WC... and just you watch, that's exactly what will happen now...

I cannot understand for the life of me why Klin. allowed his guys to get forward in that situation. USA soccer, goal #1... beat Mexico... they had that covered, then actively sought to let them back in it...

If there was ever a time to sit back, that was it.

I understand all the counter points to this and honestly don't what to hear it... if you control the elimination of Mexico from the WC, you make f'n sure it happens... end. discussion.

summary of announcer's statements... Jeebzus...
Roughly it is "Because of them not you, you in the green. You did nothing it was them not you, they did it. For the rest of your life remember you did nothing for the shirt. You have done nothing to place us in the playoffs. You have not put us in the world cup. You have not kept us alive. It was the United States not you." After the game winner, he goes on more about "How the US is better and if the Mexican coach wears pants he should resign."

I have never watched or followed New Zeland soccer in my life... I'm assuming they have next to no shot here...

They might get lucky, but probably not.

They need a new coach and one who can corral all of their talent. That being siad New Zealand is the best Team of these guys:

American Samoa
Cook Islands
Fiji
Kiribati
New Caledonia
New Zealand New Zealand
Niue
Papua New Guinea
Samoa
Solomon Islands
French Polynesia Tahiti
Tonga
Tuvalu
Vanuatu
The winner has to play a playoff to qualify for the WC.

IIRC New Zealand was very close to making the round of 16 in 2010. In fact, I am pretty sure they went undefeated, thing is, they couldn't get a win.
