"The reason it's the group of death is because some third world Africans, Ze Germans, and Portugal (like that's even a 'thing'), are all going to get massacred brutally."

If we advance to the round of 16, I am confident they can beat Belgium. Just no South American teams, please, unless its Columbia.

Do you remember how good Yugoslavia and Russia were before they splintered. There is a ton of talent in that region.

Not much better than they are now?

I really think the UK should send a united team.

I would never root for it. Let's just say my love for Scotland is matched by my hate for 'others' ;) , and Scotland had a really good national team of much of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Night and Day from today.

Yeah it would not fly today. I have read several books on how many professional footballers were scottish at the turn of the century. So many Scots were recruited by the big clubs at the time. Many of the best players and coaches in recent history were Scottish. IDK whats going on. Maybe Fergie and Dalglish can get that ship straight

It's frustrating, because take Ireland (just as an example)... they have a 'solid' Euro team... I'd call them good. If you break down the rosters of Ireland V Scotland (or at least international players from either nation) there is a good case that can be made that Scotland has more, or at least comparable, talent. Then Scotland puts their team together and they are just so bad. idk if it's the depressed area thing coming into play or what, but the talent is so much better than the result (Not that they have the talent of the 70's and 80's on their squad currently, just much better than the current result.)

If Yugoslavia still existed this would be their Starting XI this year.

I don't watch them nearly enough, but when I do I am underwhelmed by tactics more than anything else. 4-4-2 longball. Not inventive. Not creative. The last time they played the US it was at home to a small crowd and they just hunkered down and played clearance all game. Fletcher was the only dangerous person on the field and he was often alone.

It is rare since he has been in Bunde... but I have loved Subotic's game every time I see him.

Scotland is flat out embarrassing right now, worst 'name' national team in the Euros over the past year or so… sad.

Timmy Chandler tore a meniscus. It sounds like he will be out till April. Most likely not on the WC team if that is the case.

Kind of excited. Seattle, Houston, and D.C. United will be coming to play in a tournament with the Charleston Battery this week.

Additionally, in preparation for the World Cup festivities, the Battery are teaming up with the American Outlaw chapters in the state. We will have 4 chapters tailgaiting and attending this tournament. Gonna be so much fun. Winter weather has gone and will be in the 70s.

So this week will be chick full of tailgaiting, drinking, and soccer matches.
