In fairness, I think when you only watch one team, that is how it seems. ND does well, better than most schools, it just tends to be in the more obscure sports now.

Nah I follow most sports. Yea they kick ass at Fencing but everything else is heartbreak.

Last years baseball team (Granted it was a surprising run)

Women’s basketball 2012-2019: 8 Straight #1 Seeds, make the Finals 5 times, losing all but one of them.

Men’s Hockey 08-18: Lose National Semifinals and National Championship 2 times each.

Men’s Soccer Loss finals this year, semifinals in 2021, won it in 2013.

Men’s Lacrosse lost in the final 4 or finals in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2015 before winning last year.

Football lost championship in 2012, playoffs in 2018 and 2020.

This is true - it’s often heartbreak city for the Irish. But it’s also incredibly hard to win it all, and at least we’re very often in the mix.

I on the contrary am incredibly proud that a relatively small university with only a football reputation (and a fencing legendary reputation; they were actually already great way back in my day [late 50s/early 60s]) can do so well in so many areas. I might mention our track star Naguse, as well. Unless one has a warm weather location, this sort of excellence really goes against the odds.
