my son finally broke 100 today. He shot a 95. Too bad he still lost by 20 strokes to dad. Ha!
It took me 20 years to beat my father. The man was insanely consistent and a master at psychological warfare. He always had the perfect comments to throw me off.

It took a combination of hard work and old age to beat him regularly.

I wish my kids played.

It’s been amazing watching my son learn. I can’t wait until he can beat me. He’s not close but I hope it comes in the next few years.

But the time we get to spend together is worth more than all the money in the world.

Anyone else just see that on the broadcast this morning? Gary Player rolling up to the Open on Saturday and being greeted by a young female official: “When you get to my age, you hug all the chicks”. A bit cringey…announcers just sat there in dead silence. The poor girl looked like she wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.

Yeah. It’s more getting there, staying there, all that. That’s only on the long odds of winning the raffles for tix.

Guess it all depends on those variables for you and where you live, etc.

I live in Indy. It's a 10.5 hour drive to Augusta or you can do a $350 flight + car rental from ATL. We stayed in a crappy hotel about 30 min west of Augusta too. Those shared costs between four guys kept the price tag down. $100 for the ticket (my bro in law got picked back in 2018). All in, I bet I spent around $550 - $750 for the Monday round. I can't remember hotel rate and I went a little crazy in the merch shop.

Nice. That’s not bad. I’m in SD so that’s a min of two long days of driving. More like three realistically.

Some day hopefully.

Politics aside, this was an amazing watch.
I've seen almost all of his "Break 50" videos, but this was easily the most impressive.

I saw liberals on Twitter do a mashup of his missed putts. Everyone in the comments must have been PGA Pros, they were dogging him hard. Most weren't bad shots though, and some were fairly long. Of course they left out his putt on 18 and no mention of his solo birdie and eagle.

Didn't watch the whole thing, but it was nice to see regular guy Trump. Based on liberal accounts of his game I was expecting him to channel the cheating Judge Smails from Caddyshack out there, but he's pretty decent.

His game was impressive. 2 solo birds and a solo eagle playing with one of the five best players in the world. His approach shots were inside of BD multiple times.

His putting stroke is funky, almost like he’s turning the face over to draw his shot. He must’ve struggled to keep the face square through impact and developed this to keep from pushing the putt.
People also need to realize that the first guy that putts in a scramble needs to get the ball to the hole to show the line.

It reminded me of playing with my late father. Down the middle 200 yards every time, inside of me with a three wood from 150 yards, and dropping bombs!

I always thought Trump's golf game was probably over hyped by himself...but I'm pretty sure he'd kick my ass. He doesn't hit many bad shots. And at his age? Impressive.

His drive on his solo eagle he looks like he almost falls forward (he has to step through) and he puts it four feet from the hole. Amazing.

His caddie was a dude -- Neville.

But if you want a laugh because it damn near seems like a sketch, check out 6:53-7:08

Trump was way better than I expected. No way Biden could even complete that round with a cart let alone carrying a bag like he challenged.

Bryson's PR one-eighty is so impressive. He went from a villain to one of the most popular players in golf. I genuinely enjoy his videos and this Breaking 50 was easily tops for me. Not because I'm a Trumper, but because they were dialed in and I thought for sure, they'd get it done. Bryson is fun to watch and Trump's game is legit.

Somebody in the comments said, "They should make Neville the head of the Secret Service, that guy sees everything."

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Helps even more to be both.

My son has his Region golf meet on Monday. It's his one and only chance to qualify for the state tournament. He came into our room last night at midnight saying he couldn't sleep b/c he's stressing out about regions. Not sure exactly how to help him. It's akin to the olympic trials in that you either have it that day and you make it or you don't and you don't.

He'll likely have to shoot his best round of the year to qualify, which only amplifies the stress. Anyone who plays golf knows stress and anxiety are a bad thing.

Anyone have any advise?

Sorry. None. LOL. I'm 40 and still get nervous on the first tee, even with friends. God help me if I get randomly paired with a stranger for a round. The idea of playing in a tournament that matters makes my stomach turn. Have fun! Hit 'em straight! Good luck!

It's even worse as a father cuz you are literally powerless to do anything. At least when I'm playing I can control some things. With him, I just have to watch, good or bad.
