You know they're really top notch when they include Obama's middle name in CAPS.
I mean you can't fault the guy's logic. If any of the candidates actually believe a word they say, this should be something they're all screaming for.Tim Steller ✔ @senyorreporter
Wizard-level troll starts petition calling for site of Republican Natoinal Convention to allow open carry. https://www.change.org/p/quicken-lo...ans-arena-during-the-rnc-convention-in-july-2 …
I thought this tweet was appropriate...

Do the bullets become dangerous indoors?
Higher crowd density/limited exits. So yeah its more dangerous.
I guess... plenty of people outside the arena, especially when there is such an event going on.
This sign was posted outside the CPAC while Wayne LaPierre spoke.
My question is, Why?
Is the answer "Because it's safer"?
Oh ok, I'm sure you have lots of factual and helpful things to say you nutjob.

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying
I'm saying, why are guns not permitted in a room being led by the leader of the NRA?
I believe the answer is - for reasons of safety and security.
My point would be - why not apply that principal to the rest of our lives?
They have been selling the idea that they only way to be safe is to have more guns and more good guys with guns. Surely they have enough guns to keep the NRA safe? Enough 'good guys with a gun' to keep everyone safe?
They are full of shit and this sign proves it.

I guess it's easy to say "lol ya check these morons out", but if you can carry outside the arena, why not inside? Do the bullets become dangerous indoors?
Trump has already predicted violence if he doesn't win -- and plenty of folks have openly discussed making sure he doesn't get the nomination. There has been a lot of violence at Trump events this primary season. Why anyone would want guns inside this event is simply beyond my comprehension.
There will certainly be an outrage if they steal the nomination from him, but assuming that Stalingrad II will commence inside Quicken Loans Arena seems a bit much to me.
Anyways, I wasn't advocating for guns being allowed, I was just questioning the logic that it's dangerous to allow guns inside but perfectly safe to allow them outside. There could be violence at any time the crowd isn't inside the building.

Does anyone really want them...anyone in a position to ask, that is...or is this a hoax? Not saying people didn't petition...but who started it?

Sounds to me like the extension of the threat Trump made if he does not win. Nothing surprises me anymore with this election. I certainly could be wrong about this, but according to a posted story, 32000 people signed the petition. The survey itself claims 40000+. Pretty elaborate hoax if that's the case.
Bottom of the petition says it was started by a group called Hypernationalist.
I'm sure there are 132,000 people who will sign a petition a certain way w/o a second thought...but was said petition generated by someone in a position to make that request formally on behalf of Trump?
4. From Reince Priebus and the Republican National Committee: An explanation of how a venue so unfriendly to Second Amendment rights was chosen for the Republican Convention. Further, we demand a contingency plan to relocate the convention to another location should the Quicken Loans Arena refuse to honor the constitutional rights of the RNC guests to open carry firearms during the convention.
5. From all Republican candidates for President: You have been brave in raising awareness about the immense dangers posed by "gun-free zones." In order to ensure the safety of your supporters, delegates and all attendees at the convention in July, you must call upon the RNC to rectify this affront to our Second Amendment freedoms and insist upon a suspension of the Quicken Loans Arena's unconstitutional "gun-free zone" loophole. Every American is endowed with a God-given Constitutional right to carry a gun wherever and whenever they please.
Exactly: sehttps://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/151/Reductio_ad_AbsurdumeThis is the operative language, I think:
I think it's pretty obvious why guns at the convention would be a terrible idea. But it's really really hard to draw a principled distinction between the elimination of gun free zones in general and the support for this gun free zone in particular. So what the petition is doing (behind a brilliantly deadpan layer of satire) is calling for an explanation: let the RNC and the candidates articulate what makes guns a problem in this particular context but not a problem in, say, the context of a school or a movie theater or a sports game, which is exactly what the party leadership is calling for.
Does it matter who it was on behalf of? A shitload of people signed the petition. That alone should give us pause. Maybe it wasn't the candidates and it was just the average Joe Sixpack voters. Let's hear the candidates condemn this effort. Will they do that, or will they support the "constitutional" rights of their party members even though this is a clearly flawed idea?

I really don't know what will come of it from the perspective of those in leadership positions.
If you are claiming that people who blindly sign a petition based on one issue as strictly a Republican thing...well ok, I certainly don't see it that way...nor do most people. As well, if tallying those numbers is construed as a statement about the party itself...I don't agree there either.
My response to this issue would be, hey, respect the wishes of the owners of the venue, and STFU. You most certainly can have a conversation wherein you hold the belief that gun-free zones are generally a bad idea, but respect the wishes of the owners of a place we intend to rent...a place we rented knowing full well they won't allow weapons. If your folks get upset, you simply nod and say, ok, next time we'll rent a rodeo arena, because thats about the only place that would allow what you are asking for at this point in time. Folks there is a difference between how it is and how you think it ought to be. I'm ok with a Rodeo arena, but are all of you? Shrug. Refer back to the part where I said STFU, and lets move on.
I mean why are people such pussies about stuff all the time...just say it. I doubt that'll happen, but I hope the RNC does something similar. If they honestly get sucked into a ridiculous trap, then I will be ashamed of them.
The petition is an A+ troll job. But the point is pretty solid. If you think that gun free zones are unconstitutional, why support a place that creates one?
