Went out the other day to shoot right before hunting season-in NE now finishing up bow season with plans to rifle hunt. Took my 30-06 using previous data and dialed in 720 yards. 2 for 2. Went to 880, 2 for 2. Went to 1040, 3 for 4, and then out to 1200, 5 for 8, ending on 3 straight schwacks at the steel. Packed up and left-does not get much better than that IMO.

Nice. My son & me are both novices but our friends & relatives are always happy to help. It was unseasonably warm all last week thru yesterday. Hoping for sustained low temps for early morning hunts.

I missed out on getting into hunting as a kid b/c I played year round sports & dad was usually a coach. He & I both regretted not making the effort but hoping my son gets it through his friends and family.

You having any issues buying ammo? Hard to find it stocked on the shelves consistently down here. Best of luck!

I previously stocked up but running low on 9mm. Ugh. Everybody and their uncle crying foul on 2A rights all of a sudden went to buy guns/ammo during the antifa riots. That and I have no doubt the ammo manufacturers and distributors are holding off for best price.

The rifle ammo I shoot is particular at the long ranges. Lot #s matter as shooting a different lot despite the same manufacturer and bullet will throw off your shot.

Picked up a 1968 Johnny Bench rookie for under $100.
I have so many cards from the 50’s through the 90’s. I really have no idea who all is in the boxes of cards or if any of them are worth anything. Figured I would pull them out when I retired in a few years and try to make some sense of them.

Plan on getting back into electric football during the break,… idk if I ever shared my Rocket and Watters figures,… they are display only. I have a Hanford Dixon and Kevin Mack pair also for the Browns fans on the board.View attachment 3052246

I painted a couple McFarlane figures about 13-14 years ago when I was down with a broken ankle. I really took my time and thought they turned out pretty good. I took the Shawn Alexander Seahawk and converted him to the Bus and Brady Quinn Browns to Irish.

I ended up buying like 10 more to convert to Irish players, but once my foot was healed I never picked them up again. I think I was doing a Cadillac Williams to Ricky Watters, but can't remember.

I took a few old 2x4's out of the old house we're renovating. The house was built in 1883 so these boards are 139 years old. Hard yellow pine, rough hewn and heavy. I cut one down to use as a mantel on the fireplace at home. I gave the cutoff piece to a friend who does wood working and has a laser and CNC machine. He planed it smooth and then used his laser to make this for me.

I should have figured you were a Hero Quest guy. Yup, that was my jam when I was 9 and 10. Had a few of the expansion packs too, used to play it with friends, siblings, and even conned my grandmother into rolling a character once. I think my parents still have all that with our old board games.

Much more of an Axis v Allies guy. Fantasy has never been my jam but I liked HQ… problem was finding anyone to play with. The BoredJames review was perfect. Set it all up and,…….. ‘I don’t wanna now’.

My wife and girls play with me tho, we are on like quest ten of the original 12 with my oldest as the game master. This is an on and off thing now for like three years

A&A have multiple of the newer board games. Even the kinda hard to find Guadal Canal. Was so excited when i bought. Sat down and played with a friend who has never played A&A before. He won. I havent opened that game since then.

Sadly Hero Quest campaigns rarely got finished. I distinctly remember the one time my grandma played because she received a phone call later that evening that her best friend had cancer again and it killed the evening for obvious reasons. Another time my buddies and I were playing and we decided to pass this giant stuffed Crayola Crayon around like a football. One buddy caught it with his face, bit threw his own lip, and he ended up going to the ER for stitches. Then anytime I played with my siblings they always thought I was cheating as the DM and it would turn into a lot of yelling. At some point Hero Quest just became cursed because we never got anywhere and bad shit kept happening, so it went into storage lol.

Wood is so hard that even with a nail gun I bent a few nails working on the house
Yeah, crazy how that happens. Put a new metal roof on an old spring house once and we basically had to drill pilot holes if we wanted to nail anything.

yellow pine has this strange phenomenon that after a few years, the pitch hardens and creates a wood that resembles something much higher on the Janka hardness scale. I know exactly what you mean as I experienced it in our former farmhouse that was built in 1920.

I’d say the vintage are definitely worth a look. Mid-80s is when the ”junk wax” era began so even the big rookie cards aren’t worth a lot unless they’re graded with a high grade.

For vintage, condition drives the cost but even a crumpled up Mickey Mantle w/ tears or ink can pull $100 b/c its Mickey Mantle. If you ever dig them out and need help, shoot me a DM. I can give you a good idea what they’re worth.

You are living right 👍🏻
Didn't realize how much I had missed it. Takes me back to my HS years in shop class and hanging out with my old buddies doing swaps, changing out cams/carbs and buying lots of used rear tires!!

I envy your knowledge & know-how. I was a dumb jock and my dumber jock dad didn’t have those kind of skills to pass down.
