The interesting take is putting this on the oil companies.
Why? They’ve known for a couple decades that the business model they are currently pursuing would lead to a sharp increase in global temperatures and sea level rise.

Anytime you can shill for the oil companies you take it. If not? Sue Mother Nature!

You still driving a car with a gas engine or did you switch to EV when they first came out?

I thought for sure the smartest guy in the room would get the satire about Mother Nature. I'm not shilling for the oil companies, but blaming this on the oil companies is as ignorant as your post! There's a lot of blame to go around, but I would put the oil companies down the list.

Ok, then why not address Bluto’s post?

I am glad you’re acknowledging that climate change exists. How would you rank the top 3 of who’s to blame?

I think he addressed the point. You seem to be okay with suing oil companies for wild fires but you and everyone is complicit in buying and consuming the very product oil companies sell. Let’s sue everyone driving gas powered cars and gas heat in their homes. Put your money where your mouth is and get a horse and buggy and stay warm with a fireplace, until then shut the fuck up enjoy the warmth and transport oil companies provide your dumbass.

lol you're right there exists a comparable option for people to use renewable energy sources and that the O&G lobbyists haven't conditioned people to shit their pants at the thought of it.

Don't like paying taxes? Just don't pay them! Think health insurance is too expensive? Just don't pay for it! DoE is not needed, don't have your kids in schools! See how fucking moronic these statements are? I can't believe people with non-microwaved brains think that random people can just *choose* to not use O&G and when they use the levers available to them for change they combust.

You can buy property and live off the grid. Your choice. Stop driving your car or I am going to sue you’re ass… in California.

If you feel so strongly about the life of the planet dying because of people and then stop being selfish. The world is apparently on fire and you’re going to just sit and watch? As long as you’re fat and happy? Stop pretending to care.

I own a beach house - my money is lined up with my mouth unlike all those climate harpies. Things are so dire my house has doubled in value over the last five years.

I do take steps to limit my impact? lolwut

If I did live off the grid, how would your response to me change? it wouldn't, because you don't actually care about the core issue and just want to tap dance around it and shit your pants that anyone would dare speak about climate change.

Stop pretending to care about taxes, you pay them. Stop pretending to care about education, you send your kids to school. See how moronic that sounds?

I have been replying to him. I've always acknowledged climate change. The degree as to how much we are affecting it is up for debate.

To answer your question.

State of California
City of Los Angeles/surrounding cities
Santa Anas winds
Insurance companies
Builders

California wildfires have been around forever. They have increased in intensity and part of that may be due to climate change from the use of petroleum, but it's not the origin. Knowing these happen every year, the state and cities have been negligent in putting the proper infrastructure and building codes/restrictions in place to minimize the damage and loss of life. They had one reservoir down for winter maintenance which impacted the ability to fight the fires. Maybe they should schedule maintenance for another time of the year or build a third if that's not possible. Cleanup the dried debris, change building codes, add measures to negate progress of the fire as much as possible.

My kids homeschool. I am mandated to pay taxes it’s the law. There are things you can choose. So when you run your mouth and bitch about protecting the environment but sit in your ivory tower with all your fancy calculations from Texas Instruments and drive your gas powered cars, and enjoy the heat that gas provides you in Canaduh. You have the option to go live in an igloo, survive on ice fishing… but you don’t care enough. You just care just enough to bitch about it on a football message board. Do your part or shut the fuck up.

Sure, and it's not like Bluto or myself haven't acknowledged those parties at all either? Not sure why it's inconceivable that others impacted this situation too. You'll find you agree with us on a lot if you look past the poster.

I can choose? Ok let me just go tell my building I'd like to switch to geothermal heating lol. Run my mouth? What are you going to do fight me? Relax, I think the O&G industry is going to be just fine.

Sit in my ivory tower? I do plenty of putting my money where my mouth is, I have a number of environmentally responsible clients and investment funds that I advise as well. But because your limited understanding you can't comprehend how someone can advocate for my positions if I'm not living in abject squalor like you expect. When you receive any refundable tax credits, why don't you just return that money to the government, you don't believe in handouts so just send it back. You would never do that. You don't think people should work from home, and yet you work from home. Much easier to do your part there, and yet you can't even do that.

The irony of me bitching on a football forum as if you don't do it as much or more. My posts are often just shit posts to other posters that aren't part of the sensitive bunch because I can't control myself in getting into these stupid arguments. You and the rest of the MAGA crew love to post whatever freakout dujour to discuss on a football forum. So who's really the loser? The guy running to the computer to talk about whatever culture war freakout they have?

You don’t have to work there genius. You don’t have to live where you live genius. You consume the very things you rail against genius. Your environmentally friendly clients that also consume the same shit you are bitching about. You use green paper products? How awesome. You use solar panels? Paper straw man? Awesome. You are saving the planet 😂.

Also your tax argument is dumb as shit. I pay taxes because it’s the law and I wouldn’t pay a cent if I didn’t have to. I’ll gladly return my tax bill every year. You don’t consume gas because it’s law, you consume because it’s convenient.

I never said people shouldn’t work from home. I am telling you that a lot of government agencies are very inefficient, I’m telling you a lot of highly sensitive government work is managed by people overseas because they work so remote it’s out of country. I’m telling you that there is such lackluster oversight in government people get away with being non existent in their job… you even had enough ignorance to mention it’s a management issue… I agree… top down… starting with…. the fucking president. When I say you don’t understand government employment in DC or other areas I not suggesting you don’t, I’m telling you that you don’t… “but I manage 5 people in the private sector” good 4 U!!

I think most people agree that it is getting warmer. The question many have is why.

Could it be from the activity of mankind? Maybe.

Could the climate just be changing again because it has throughout history? I think just as likely.

Most people THINK it is getting warmer because that is what they have been told to think and mocked if questioned. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but we are not that far removed from global cooling ushering in a new ice age and killing us all. Anthropogenic warming is a myth promoted by grifters. Calling carbon, a building block of life, a pollutant is possibly the greatest gas lighting exercise of all time.

We should buy Greenland and annex Canada just to be safe.

Both my wife and myself drive EV’s and we have solar that zeros out all of our electrical utilities.

Gonna install a heat pump and batteries next so we’ll be able to go completely off grid.

Not a big fan of throwing a bunch of money at corporate assholes on a regular basis, particularly PG&E who has burned down half the State at this point and blew up a whole neighborhood on the SF peninsula.

lol and you don't have to live in the US, go live somewhere without income taxes, quit complaining! Just the most brainless argument ever. You somehow think I have the ability to make full scale change on my own and that I can compete with the lobbyists/entities much more well funded than myself.

How many times have you returned the amount of tax credits you get back to the government. I want figures. You think everything needs to be absolute so let's see if you've given ever single credit back. If not, well I guess you're a fake conservative!

lol you questioned my understanding of WFH and I gave you figures of the teams I've managed showing I know probably a ton more of managing staff with a WFH setup, but the guy who works in a "only guy in my area who does what I do" wants to lecture about WFH laziness because he goes into some government buildings sometimes and sees lazy people?? Ok bud, bang up job, I go to ND games does that mean I can draw up a better gameplan than someone who actual works on drafting them??? Incredible lmao.

I don’t have to live in the US, sure… but I’m not bitching or complaining about taxes, you brought up taxes not me. Not sure why you are having a faux argument about things I’m not even complaining about.

I didn’t question your understanding of WFH. I questioned your understanding of government employment. What experience do you have with 3-4 letter agencies within the US government, newslflash CPA isn’t one of them. Thanks, shut up now.

This is basically where I'm at. We recycle paper and plastic to do our part, but it's a combination of both IMO. I tend to think it's a little more Mother Nature. Look at the Ice Age when basically no one was around. Global warming and the south gets covered in snow.

I applaud you for that type of dedication. I'm still waiting until 99% of the bugs in EV's are worked out. Particularly the range without having to stop and charge on long trips along with the time to charge on trips. Do you charge your cars off the solar?

Paper straws are useless. I often go strawless but more importantly bag my trash and get it in a proper receptacle. I hate litterbugs - great sign of degeneracy.

I would have done geothermal but it was impractical in our area. I know climate is a hoax b/c geothermal would be the standard and heavily subsidized if we were serious about reducing carbon footprints.

My understanding is you can't disconnect from the utility and have to shut yours down when power is down so you aren't backfilling the grid when it is worked on. There was a case in Florida a number of years ago where the guy wanted to disconnect and the town insisted on condemning the house if it was not hooked up to the power grid. Totally defeats the most important use case IMO - power when the grid is down. Just the process of a power diverter for generator use is a massive PIA. Cities really promote dependency. It is not cost effective on its own and without disaster planning to validate the cost I just don't get it.

I could get behind an EV for local use but refuse the concept for longer distances. I am thinking of putting a fake plug on my truck so I can park in the EV spots all over town. Rare earth metals mined by 6 year olds aside - lots of nice luxury, performance vehicles are EV only. Been a number of fires at the beach from EVs not playing well with the salty sea spray air.

lmao because you see how stupid my argument is? It is the exact same argument that you're making RE: climate change. You can complain about government entitlements without anyone declaring you a fraud because you don't return your tax credits back to the government, but people who care about the climate have to live off the land is a joke.

Did I miss a conversation about tax credits and entitlements? Trump take away your food stamps? I’m confused.

Bruh, you spend your days trying to pin people to table until they answer your often times irrelevant questions because there is a point to be made somewhere in Toronto land. When someone pins you to the table and tells you that you sound like a dipshit talking about how we are killing Mother Earth but you participating in the killing yourself you spiral into monster that grows legs and starts talking about random shit.

Thanks. The tax credits helped quite a bit and our system is paid off.

I can understand the range anxiety. If you’re commuting on a regular basis an EV can’t be beat in my opinion.

Its my understanding that once solid state batteries become better developed range issues will be a thing of the past. Based on some things I’ve read there are working prototypes of solid state batteries that major car companies have right now that give EV’s around a 600-800 mile range on an 80% charge. That’s about 3x what my 2019 KIA gets on 80% currently.

We do charge the cars off of solar and took that into account when we had the installer size our solar system.

I installed 2 220 level 2 chargers. Dealers are now including these with the sale of the car in most cases. Pretty easy to install as long as you have a 40-50 amp circuit available for each. Basically like adding an electrical dryer outlet.
