Traveling to Elkhart for business and since it's a stones throw away from our common interest. I was hoping to gather some good info on Hotels and Motels that are reasonable in the area! Any other good tips on other attractions would be sweet and appreciated as well! I will be working on this, Elkhart General Surgery Expansion Project - Elkhart General Hospital

How long will you be in the area, and how close do you want to be to the hospital?

Start there and I can try and help you.

Ya, I use priceline regularly. But I have found better deals by driving around and asking for matches to priceline and motels will usually give you weekly rates. I was hoping to maybe get some inside info from those close to the area..

They are saying a week to start 12/27-1/3, but that changes daily with my line of work. I will be coming and going regularly for the first couple months. 30-40 mile radius depending on the rate. Thanks

Ok lets see here, assuming you will have a rental car.

I honestly would check out this Holiday Inn

https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=Holiday+Inn+Express+Mishawaka+(South+Bend+Area)&fb=1&gl=us&hq=holiday+inn&hnear=0x88113314890a1573:0xa42d729539512ba0,Mishawaka,+IN&cid=12881987059647047198&ei=KJa0UuDuHI3gsASJuoKQDQ&sqi=2&ved=0CNkBEPwSMAk

It is your basic holiday inn but the location is pretty damn good, especially when you are gonna be stuck in a pretty boring Midwest town. You will be in the middle of the best shopping and restaurants for 100 miles. ND campus is roughly 10 mins to the west as long as the traffic on grape rd isn't too bad. This location will get you to the toll road entrance/exit in about 5 mins. You can get to Elkhart general in 20-25 minutes from there also.

Trying to think of anything else...... You can get to downtown south bend restaurants in about 15 minutes from that location.

I've lived here my entire life, so you can def trust me that there isn't a better location.

If you want a nicer hotel, that's a different story. Let me know and I can recommend something else.

I'll divulge a little more on the topic, I'm under contract and they give me $100 a day to spend on meals and a hotel. I love saving as much of that as possible! I get great mpg and don't mind traveling so location isn't as important as savings and I'm no lush when It comes to the comfort of higher rate hotels… 87 bills a night is a bit pricey… for ex. as of now I'm working in downtown Louisville and I found a spot south and about 45 mins away for 238 a week and it has a kitchen and living room. I appreciate your help!!

If you think you are going to be there for an extended stay and prefer a studio with a kitchen,

this place might be what you are looking for

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=mishawaka+indiana&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x88113314890a1573:0xa42d729539512ba0,Mishawaka,+IN&gl=us&ei=x5-0UrzfK5HgsATd1IGIDQ&ved=0CJUBELYD

Ive heard good things about the extended stay. Same general area as that holiday inn. Its actually right across the street from the brand new St Joseph hospital that was just built.

If you want to know about anything else in town, you can PM me.

At Indiana toll road exit 92 in Northern Elkhart, there are ton of hotels, many of which are very new or recently refurbished. They tend to get a lot of the overflow ND crowd that likes a better rate and not the crowding of an ND weekend. This will also keep you within about 10 minutes of the hospital.

Plus your only about 15 minutes away from the spot nlroma linked to above...

If you get a chance, eat at the Bulldog Crossing Bar & Grill in Elkhart. It's not fancy, but the food's good (try the blue cheese steak) and there are a lot of cool football pics on the wall, including a nice one of Bear & Ara.

My girlfriend travels to Elkhart often for business. She says the Holiday Inn is horrible. Best option is the Hampton Inn, second the Comfort Inn.

Don't miss the RV Hall of Fame!

Hahaha.

I am no longer permitted to enter the RV Hall of fame....
Hosted a dance there (lol, yeah at the RV HoF), and needless to say fun was had. Until everyone started voming.

Good times.
