In this case it keep him from being a Wolverine. UM was in dire straits for kicker for the '10 season. In early April they approached Brindza and suggested with the HS work he has already completed it was possible for him to graduate from HS in Michigan as a Junior and play for UM in Sept 2010.
Not sure but I think it was Elston that got credit for locating him for ND. Two weeks after UM offered, ND offered. A week after that Brindza committed to ND. Shortly there after he and his parents reflected on the ramifications of so early an arrival on a college campus. He's a good student but not the child prodigy that enters college at 15.
He made the decision to graduate in December of his Senior Year and enroll in ND in January.
ND has a kicker in Ruffer who took over from Tausch who has an excellent record as a Place Kicker. Brindza also has a 48+ yd punting average which is 10+ yds better than our current punter. AND he routinely hits the endzone or kicks through it on kick offs so when he plays Div 1 ball and has to kick off from 10 yds further back he should still be able to reach the endzone are close to it.
For those of you new to this site there's a wealth of information that NDinLA, ThePolishIrishman, TerryTate and others have compiled on ND recruits Take some time and scan through the profiles, Great Stuff!
BGIF-Thanks for the analysis. I really appreciate it. It makes a lot of sense that he's a EE after hearing you explain it. Also, I had no idea that he was a punter too. Thanks again for your insight!
