Wow, finally released... had it this entire time and tried like hell to suppress it. So shameful.

Also, so convenient it's released the moment his eligibility up is and he's headed to NFL.

I am NOT EXCUSING Mixon hitting the girl. But I do think that the video probably will help him more than hurt him. It sure looks like he and the girl exchanged words, and then he tried to walk away, only to have her initiate ALL of the physical contact. She first shoves him, and then, when he fakes like he is going to hit her, she slaps him in the face. At some point, women have to accept responsibility for their own actions. They can't be allowed to act all tough and bad like a man, and then hide behind "But I'm a GIRL!!!" when things go bad for them. He hit her once and left. If she had been male, and Mixon had hammered him into unconsciousness, we would be saying, "That's kind of fvcked up, but the guy asked for it."

See, her being a small girl matters because he was in no threat. If a guy start shit with another guy and puts his hands on him then sometimes you get away with retaliation like that...

...but when she barely shoves him, then he bucks at her causing a meek reaction, and then he uses overwhelming and completely unnecessary force breaking her face...

...it frankly doesn't matter ethically or legally that she touched him first, for the same that if I bump into someone on the subway they're not authorized to kick my ass. The fact that he could've walked away without harm means he's in the wrong.

Not agreeing on this incident. He reacted way too quickly. If he had walked half way across the room and she was hitting him I might give you that one, but she pushed him once. She wasn't wailing away with a club or even her fists.

This video is exactly like Ray Rice's. Takes a couple hits before losing control and hitting her. Probably even worse considering how soft that slap was. Even if she was calling him the N word he's fucked. No one cares about that they just see Mixon unloading on a girl. Honestly shocked Stoops didn't kick him off the team permanently after seeing the video. He's gonna get so much shit between Mixon/Westbrook/DGB now. This video is worse than I thought it would be.

But she's a woman who posed no real threat to Mixon, which completely invalidates this entire counterfactual of yours. I get the impulse to throw the (faulty) logic of radical feminism back at them in scenarios like this, but the fact that this video shocks the conscience proves why they're wrong.

I think the subway comparison is a little disingenuous, as I think we can all see the differences in the two situations.

That said, I'd love to hear the actual legal standing for what actions are ok under the law in this situation. What circumstances actually affect his potential reactions?

If it's a small man, with the same physical make-up, is it still ok? Does the law allow for me to assault someone without repercussion because I'm not really a threat to anyone? I honestly don't know the legalities of this, so anyone who understands what can/can't be done and why would be helpful.

He obviously did something really, really wrong, but I don't find myself having much sympathy for her JUST based on the video. If he walked in after her for no reason other than the discussion, and continued badgering or escalating the altercation, that's different. You don't deserve the repercussion of having your face broke, but you don't deserve some protection to unilaterally put your hands on someone with malice (which is exactly what she did).

Outside of him hitting her, the main problem I have with this video is why did none of the other dudes she was with try to step in and beat his fucking ass?

Feigning a punch can considered assault, believe it or not.

If a 5'1", 120lb guy did the same thing, then no one would look at it as "he posed no real threat to Mixon." I just think it is hypocritical as hell, to allow a female to act like white trash, and then demand that a man treat her like a proper lady. To be clear........ I would prefer that we demand that the female act like a lady, not that we declare open season on the ones that act like white trash.

This is a prime example of why you don't go around hitting people in the face no matter what size you are. She assumed because she's a female that there wouldn't be repercussion for her actions, she picked the wrong person to hit in the face. I would never hit her back, 90% of guys in that situation would never hit her back for what she did, but some men like Mixon will respond with violence. Mixon is 100% in the wrong, you never ever put your hands on a woman unless you or someone else is in serious physical danger. However it's a complete double standard to act like what this woman did was okay simply because she is "too small" to hurt the big football player. There is no excuse to put your hands on someone else, and if you choose to do so you accept the possible outcomes.

No one is suggesting that the woman is above reproach, or that Mixon should have just stood there and absorbed her abuse. But there's very good reason behind the social norm that a man should almost never strike a woman, and nothing in that video indicates that Mixon was justified in breaking that norm (much less her face) . So he likely deserves the shitstorm that's heading his way.

ITT: Men who don't understand that it's possible for her to be in the wrong for instigating *and* Mixon to be an absolute monster for knocking her out when that was the completely wrong way to respond in that situation. Screw that kid for doing that and OU should be ashamed for letting him back because he's really good and they figured the tape would never get out.

Agree both parties made mistakes, but there is no moral relativism when it comes to striking a woman. None at all. This is black and white. Plain and simple. No gray area here. No debate here. He comes out the villain 100% of the time.

*Yes, I understand the woman was being an instigating bitch

Oh, they're obviously completely different I was just trying to pick an extreme to show just because someones puts hands on you that obviously doesn't give you carte blanche to assault them.

The law varies from place to place and intentionally has a lot of grey area. In general, you're allowed to use reasonable force to protect yourself. So if someone attacks you or tries to punch/kick/whatever you... generally, you're allowed to defend yourself. But let's say that you do defend yourself and in the course of defending yourself you knock them out... you're not allowed to, say, kick your assailant repeatedly in the head while they're down, because they've been subdued and there is no threat.

To your last bolded, what stops her from assaulting him with impunity is the law. Obviously, he could just walk away... but if he really wanted to, he could report her for assault or press charges or whatever. Mixon was obviously not defending himself. He was in an argument, got upset that she touched him, and then decided to break her face because he wanted to.

Sad thing is that if he walks away and reports her, the cops laugh in his face and do nothing. If he is 5'2 and 120 lbs, the same thing happens.

She wasn't 115-120 lbs. See the legs and arms on her? That was 150 easy. And the fact that she thinks she can walk around, cuss, push and then slap a man is just a testimony to America society when "helpless" women can get away with anything versus a man. Unfortunately, young women today have grown up in an Opera Winfrey society where they can do any dang thing they want and men just have to live with it. Unfortunately, far too many females in our society have taken the white trash trailer park approach. Need another example? Butlers white trash girlfriend kicking the crap out of that woman for <ack>speaking to him.

I opened the door yesterday for four women. Exactly one thank you. The other three just walked by like I was the paid doorman or something.

For the record, I don't agre with a man ever putting his hands on a woman. He should always walk away. But the fact that it can be a major effort to do so while the offending woman gets nothing but a laugh with her friends is just plain wrong.

Just this very week, a Kansas basketball player's girlfriend was the one charged for assault in a domestic abuse case. He shoved her (hard) into stairs and caused injury... but follow up investigation revealed that she puts hands on him first and was the aggressor, so charges were dropped against him and brought against her.

So no, I don't buy your premise.

The difference, obviously, between the Kansas player and Mixon is that the Kansas player used a reasonable amount of force and acted responsibly, whereas Mixon just wanted to hurt her.

But how much was that the effort of Kansas U taking effort to protect their player (investment) and enlisting help from sympathetic investigators to make that happen? If it was you or I, we would be up on charges all day long. And no amount of proof would have saved our hides.

Are you a caveman? The "slap" she gave him was like a swat on the back of a 1200 pound horse. As to her being "white trash" you know nothing about this young lady or even what the argument was about. You are assuming things you don't even know. He's a 200 pound man, no excuse for his hitting her like that.

See what I mean? If a small guy was this aggressive with Mixon, and Mixon knocked him out with one punch and walked away, no one would be up in arms about it. They would simply go, "That's fvcked up", and move on.

This is a reasonable response. I think this particular case is an outlier, and not indicative of the norm, but it is a reasonable response.

Good lord. You're hopeless. BTW researched what caused the argument and it was Mixon who made a homosexual slur toward the friend she was with.
