Does Kelly elevate Bob Elliott to DC?

I think Cooks is the DC, then Jones gets to be the LBs coach and kelly hires someone to the the qbs coach on the outside

If I was him I would at least make one hire relatively quickly so it doesn't hurt recruiting. Seems like Jones would be the easy choice

Fck. Is it really that hard for a coach to tell a kid from the onset that there's a chance he could take a head coaching gig at some point? Especially if it's going to be that same day.

You know I was thinking about this strange spot coaches are in, particularly head coaches whose departure obviously guts the rest of the staff and makes recruits wonder where they'll sit.

With Diaco and Martin taking head coaching gigs, the opportunity is obviously still there to promote from within and keep the same philosophies.

Regardless, you think some coaches would just go under the radar instead of having to dodge/lie to in-home questions like "Coach, I hear that Mack Brown is leaving Texas. Are you interested?"

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm glad to see this....it's a win/win.
I've thought for a while now we need a different defensive scheme. The bend but don't break thing only works for so long, and only against mediocre competition.

So Tuitt goes from 99% coming back to probably gone... especially if Elston follows Diaco.

This seriously might set this program back a couple years if recruiting falls apart/Tuitt leaves/we can't get a good replacement assistants.

We should be able to outscore most of our opponents next year tho. That'll help the hide the bad D.

It is Uconn its like a third world country in football terms

I hope he does good there but it is just odd.

If you say so. Curious, what does that make Miami (OH)?

I hope he does well and I don't think it's odd at all, especially if his dream is to be a head coach.

Kinda strange to here him say this considering he hasn't said what his plan are.

Tuitt is gone.

Everyone knew anything suggested he was coming back, too. This is a gigantic kick in the nuts. This isn't like Martin leaving where it will be seamless.

I really think this could wreck the close to this recruiting class (especially if other D assistants leave), wreck the defense for next year (think of how many odd-fit guys we have for his jigsaw 3-4), and set the program back significantly. I expect multiple decommits.

Good for Diaco.

Personally, I thought he was overrated as a DC. He had a lot of talent to work with.

And has he ever been that great of a recruiter, outside of the Ishaq story?

We still have Brian Kelly. We're fine.

Diaco must have been telling his players and recruits that he was definitely going to be back next season, because they're obviously pissed/surprised/upset that he's leaving.

I'm not too upset about it, because if your coordinators are leaving for HC positions it's probably a sign that you have a good program... but I hope this doesn't lead to us losing any recruits or players, especially Tuitt.

Wish Diaco the best, though I fear there may be something going behind the scenes here.

You can't blame him for wanting to be a HC. Wish him well. He'll be available again in a few years. UConn is set up for anyone to fail.

I Hope BK and staff are working damage control with the recruits.

I don't think this is a major setback if it doesn't result in Tuitt and several recruits jumping ship. But if it does.....
