Diaco Hired as Purdue DC

Gotta believe Kelly is a ahead of the curve, ready to hit the recruiting class and shore things up, no?

Yeah.

Honestly, I'm not worried.

I'm sick of seeing this defense scrambling around at the last second not knowing WTF is going on, and for the defense to be too damn confusing for the best players to play.

He's not a great recruiter, he's a decent recruiter from everything I know (which may not be much). All of this will be smoothed over by start of next week.

Wasn't it a sticking point for BK in contract negotiations to be able to keep his staff and to help make that happen. He obviously had no control on if they stayed or left, but, with them gone does he reconsider as well

I don't think so. He has stated he was good with members of his staff leaving for leadership positions (i.e. Head Coaching jobs). He said that if people interviewed for Coordinator jobs (or anything less than HC jobs), they better get hired because thy wouldn't have their current job to come back to.

I'm holding off getting out on any ledge. All the reporters said BK was going to the Eagles too. Until I hear for sure he is the new coach, I'm not panicking. I don't have a lot of contacts like some of the posters but I have one who is good friends with the family and he thinks he is staying. He will get back to me tomorrow after he has "done some research" but he has been pretty accurate with the info he has shared in the past. As soon as I hear anything from him I will let you all know. TIFWIW

Dude he's gone.

Yup.

Haha, I'd say it's been a roller coaster of a year, but then that would suggest there were peaks. Maybe tilt-a-whirl is a better description.

Did you miss the top 5 recruiting class, beating the Big Ten Champion and Pac-12 South Champion, and beating Southern Cal?

Diaco must have been telling his players and recruits that he was definitely going to be back next season, because they're obviously pissed/surprised/upset that he's leaving.

I'm not too upset about it, because if your coordinators are leaving for HC positions it's probably a sign that you have a good program... but I hope this doesn't lead to us losing any recruits or players, especially Tuitt.

Wish Diaco the best, though I fear there may be something going behind the scenes here.

Yeah man, I hear Kelly is cooking meth in an RV.

Am I the only one who doesn't think this is such a bad thing? I wouldn't go so far as to say Diaco was overrated, but I certainly don't think he is irreplaceable like Kelly is. Losing Martin and Diaco in the same season SUCKS, but they are both much less important than keeping Kelly. My ONLY concern about Diaco is the recruiting impact, mainly Morgan since that would have been his position coach. Other than that, I don't see this as "program changing" and I highly doubt this affect's Tuitt's decision.

No, I'm on record saying this stings only slightly worse than losing Martin. ND will be over this by monday.

2012 sure was a memorable, magical season. I haven't enjoyed ND football that much in quite some time. This year was enjoyable also. These trying times will pass.

Hell look at the Bama rumor mill. Saban with a fresh unsigned contract?

Successful program loses some staff. Not a new thing. Not the end of the world either.

Agree completely. I'm sitting here actually surprised that I'm not overreacting. I'm actually looking forward to another home run BK hire and a fresh approach to the defense. I love coach Diaco, but his schemes drove me nuts at times; passive against Navy, bend but don't break, etc. I'm happy for him and can't wait to see who the replacement is.

And LAX, CHILL. Lol.

I'd be the first to point out how amazing the staff has recruited, and will continue to recruit even with bumps in the road like this. But the whole year has felt like a blur of bad news at times. Just perception / finding the correct amusement park metaphor. Didn't mean to nitpick.

Apologies if someone has already said this, but my first reaction was, "and now BK bolts to the Redskins after the bowl game."

We better hope Briles is the man........

This is all good. The best programs get their coordinators picked and move on. It has been way to long since our OC and dc have been sought after.

Our core is strong. Many others will love the opportunity to be apart of this university and coach here.

Diaco is awesome, passionate , and very intelligent. He will be fine but we will be great!

When Kelly brought in outside talent for the first time he brought in heistand and look how that worked out.

This will put us on a new track that is on another level of success...

We probably lose a few recruits /transfers/ early nfl exits, but we will get our fair share when the new talent arrives.

Call me crazy, but Change is constant and brings much opportunity...especially when you are Notre dame and have swarwick and Kelly in control!

We are ND and we are in a wonderful situation because of this!

This is good news folks! Go Irish!!!
