I really don't know how PED's would make you only have 41 strides in 100m, vs 44 for everyone else. It's just a simple mechanical advantage.

Uhh, did you see the 200? Granted, in the 100, he isn't that impressive at the start, but he had the 200 won by the first 40-50m.

I think there is a chance that a 40yd dash would be somewhat close.

I also believe that if Usaine Bolt challenged DR to an accurate throwing contest, that would also be close.

40 yard dashes are timed at first movement. So I don't think his 'slow' starts which aren't slow at all would effect him much

I'm not bashing you or anything either. I follow track extensively. I ran in college and I know that most of this is silly postulating by twenty-something year old stud football players thinking they are the end all be all of speed. But these dudes running the 100m, the 60m, the 200m are a different kind of fast. They are world class when it comes to running/sprinting. Chris Johnson is not faster than Bolt in the 40 yard dash nor the 100 meters. Nor is Douche-Rob. Especially if done from a gunned sprint start.

If you think being in blocks is a crutch, watch the 4x100m race that happened Saturday below. I'd be hard pressed to find many guys on those relay teams that aren't faster than almost if not all NFL guys in the 40 yard dash or the 100 meters.

BBC Sport - Usain Bolt wins Olympics 100m final at London 2012

His reaction time of 0.165secs was significantly better than that of both Blake and Gatlin, and although former world champion Tyson Gay got out fast, Bolt was into his long stride quickly.

He didn't have a reaction time problem in the 100m at this year's Olympics. I think his "starting woes" have been greatly exaggerated following his false start at the 2011 World's.

2.I saw the math somewhere, and Bolt's 40 YARD time (meters are different than yards, I've seen 40m listed here) would be 4.26. Which is what Chris Johnson ran at his combine.

Walter Dix ran a 3.96 40 yard dash once. There are actually a number of people faster than Bolt over a super short distance where top end speed is less important. However, Denard is not one of them. In a head to head race with a gun-start (i.e. what was suggested) he'd get toasted by probably close to .2 seconds.

Also, your reaction time out of the blocks adds a full ~.2 seconds... so if you got that 4.26 from from his 40 yard split you need to subtract his reaction time (for a world class sprinter like Bolt, likely closer to ~.15 seconds) bringing it down to somewhere near a 4.1.

Bolt would blow him away. He's a trained professional runner and the fastest one ever. DR isn't.
