A couple is two. Several is three.
I thought a few was three? Anyway, semantics.
I decided to take a few days to digest the loss before posting anything on here. I'm disappointed. I thought the game plan on offense was far too conservative at times.
-Thought we should have used a speedy guy on some of those outside quick screens.
-Dex ran well in the first half.
-Book left the pocket too soon a few times.
-Claypool makes that catch on the first series... just sets the tone. Seemed like it was destined to be one of those plays we made all season, and then we didn't.
-Those overturned calls... They were all right, expect for the fumble OOB. How one can say there was CLEAR evidence to overturn it is nuts. Irish grab a score there, it's a new ballgame.
-As Nazareth would say: Love hurts. Love scars. Ok ok, I kid around with that, but losing Love was just brutal. Worst part of all of it, Vaughn was in position a bunch of times, just couldn't make the play like Love would.
-By the 3rd quarter you could tell the players were defeated. It was hard to watch.
-Proud of the run defense. Really shut them down outside of the TD run, which was expected by that point with them having to try and keep us in the game the whole time.
-Once again, this gave the haters/doubters fuel for their usual" "Time to join a conference" "Shouldn't have been in it" "Georgia deserved it more." jabs. Which is why seeing UCF, Georgia, and Penn State lose (living in PA it's always a good day when PSU loses) was somewhat redeeming.
-Great season, and I expect the OL to make strides, WRs to get better, and the pass rush should be the same (Better with work obviously the goal). Disappointing to see it end this way. Losing was always a very real possibility, but a final score with a closer margin would have hurt less in the long run.
-Kelly. Is he the one? Maybe not, but the fact that after the game I saw people calling for his head again is ludicrous, 12-0 regular seasons twice, 10+ win seasons 3 of last 4. Building the roster up as we speak. It's really fucking hard to win a Natty in college football today. Including the upcoming game, the last 10 national champs have come from 5 combined teams... 3 of the 5 have caught lightning in a bottle for a season. So anyone bagging on Kelly and elite, right now there are 2 elite programs with a few others that can have a puncher's chance at knocking them off. ND had that puncher's chance with Clemson, but everything that could go wrong with injuries, breaks, replays, etc. did.
