The more I see of this guy the more I think Notre Dame might boat race this team. Confidence is a good thing, but this kind of unbridled arrogance rarely ends well. The self-destruction usually begins at the first sign of adversity.

It's great and fine when the players hear their coach go to bat for them with the lip service. What happens when things go south early for IU? Will they still buy in to Cignetti's mouth or will they realize and remember that they are Indiana University and accept their eventual fate as a second tier CFB/ Big 10 team?

I don't buy this. There may be some, but the majority of the 60-80 year old crowd I see at the games will stand. I don't mind different uni's, but the traditional roadies are the best.
I don’t mind them if they’re used sparingly
… (emphasis added). But to use them for half the season is a crock.

The white pants look like shit. I remember sitting at a bar watching the GT game and random fans thought that GT was playing Navy at first. They commented that it looked like shit. I’ve also heard others say the all white combination doesn’t work as well — I agree. Leave that to Vince DeDario, Jessie and Sean Stires to drool over … 😒

Also, if you want to wear green once a year — fine. But, it starts to lose its allure.

I was a little worried about this goofy ass feelgood team... Now I'm pretty sure we fucking kill them

He's the dopey PE teacher who thinks because he's been around a lot of people who know sports he can beat the varsity team.

He's still a dope. "OK?" Let me tell you about these stats... "OK?"

Take these fuckers out in a body bag
To quote Coogan, “Empty the clip in these motherfuckers”.

This dude talks a really big game. I get he just led Indiana to their greatest football season ever, but man, I really hope ND humbles this guy next week.

Plenty of people clutch their pearls when Coach Prime says something. This guy has a big mouth himself just with a lower volume on the delivery.

There are such things as IU football fans???

I'm one of those hated people who grew up cheering for IU basketball and ND football. My entire family is that way too. My brother-in-law on my wife's side, however, grew up near Bloomington, so that entire family cheers for all things IU. Most IU fans I know are just excited to have a team to cheer for in the fall. Most of the time, their goal is 6-6 so they can go to a bowl game. I get their excitement for this season and this coach. Truly.

Normally, I would fully expect them to humble themselves amidst a power house program, however, I truly believe that non-ND fans perpetually think ND is overrated and beatable. Hence the arrogance and lack of respect. I hope ND wins this game by 50.

Yep, I've been saying coach Cigarette is a delusional, arrogant PRICK for quite some time. "We have the widest margin of victory in the country", though they played only ONE marginal team (meatchicken) and only ONE good team (tO$U). He can take his weak-ass schedule and shove it up his frickin' stinky ass!!! Boat race these mutherfuckers and don't let up on the gas is what I want!

If we're sharing anecdotal evidence....two of my brothers went to IU for Kelley School of Business.... Both are die hard IU Bball / ND Fball.

Both are rooting for IU. And both say "IU is better than NIU not worried".

This is the education you get with an IU degree.... (Purdue engineer here) - but fan of both ND sports lol

I believe IUs margin of victory for the year is only 3 points higher than NDs if I'm not mistaken lol,

Wait until they get demolished by a team that lost to NIU. How embarrassing will that be?

Did I miss the memo? Are we wearing some stupid combination, again, now? Traditions matter — or they used to. Notre Dame wears gold helmets, navy jerseys (at home), white jerseys (on the road), and gold pants. This season, we broke the school record for the most uniform variations worn in a season. We wore a half dozen different uniform combinations this year….

You never see Alabama rolling out all of these odd combinations….or Georgia….or Penn State….or Texas….

Stick to your traditions and don’t be a prisoner of the moment. We’re Notre Dame, not some low rent program that utilizes multiple uniform variations in order to market its program.

Show up in blue and gold and beat the crap outta IU!
Notre Dame basically invented the alternate jersey. We’ve been wearing green jerseys for 100 years. It is our tradition to mix up uniforms.

their response? "we're a basketball school anyway"
(last natty was a year before Holtz won his)
lol

What were your brothers' predictions for the OSU game? Just curious.

I didn't know many IU fans who legit believed they'd beat OSU. I, personally, thought IU would give them more of a fight because I think Day is a terrible coach but that's besides the point. There is a part of me that thinks alot of this trash talk is stemming from a lack of respect for ND. Had they been matched up against Texas, or somehow ended up against Oregon, or re-matched against OSU, I believe they'd all be a little quieter.

I understand that. However, it hasn’t been a tradition to wear them every year or all of these new combinations (all green, all white, navy and white, green and white, and so on).

If you go to the uniform thread, presuming we beat IU, I suggested that we wear the white jerseys with green numbers (à la Notre Dame - Florida Sugar Bowl) against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. That said, 6 different uniform combinations has gone way overboard.

Again, stick to your tradition and don’t sell out to some gimmick. It’s embarrassing to the program. We’re not Oregon, TCU, West Virginia, Kent State, Buffalo, Colorado ….

I've always been fine with the uniform changes as long as 1) they were traditional/retro looks or 2) it was a Shamrock Series game. Otherwise, I always lean towards the traditional gold pants, white or blue jersey, gold helmet. Call me old fashioned.

One thought they would win because "Day sucks"
The other thought close loss.

IU was down 3-0 to Michigan and never trailed after that.

That game was brutally ugly but it's their best win. They avoided Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Penn State, Oregon. They lost to Ohio State and basically piss pounded the bottom half of the Big Ten standings.

I'm really starting to think this game is going to look at lot like most of ND's wins this season.
