I have seen the rumors of Dayne Crist transferring, not attending the last home game and other ridiculous comments. I will admit that I have been a bit dissapointed with Dayne's performance on the field, but I am still a big fan of the PLAYER and PERSON.
I still remember him showing up for a spring game prior to help recruit for his class several years ago. He stood behind JC for 3 years. He has done absolutely NOTHING to deserve the treatment he has received over the last few weeks on here and other ND sites. The guy has been a class act.
I wish him well and hope he comes back healthy. I am sure he will be given the chance to compete just like every other QB on our roster.
So, for those who were bashing his attendance to the game last week. Here is your answer: Crist is immobilized after having surgery on his ruptured patella tendon, so he can’t get around practice much. Crist sat in the booth for last Saturday’s win over Utah, but was not cleared to travel this weekend. Senor running back Armando Allen, who is also out for the season after having hip surgery, won’t be traveling either.
As for his commitment: The guy Rees is replacing, Dayne Crist, still attends all of the team’s meetings.
“Dayne’s still learning and absorbing a lot,” Kelly said. “He’s staying engaged. I don’t know that there’s a lot of information that is flowing from Dayne to Tommy…He’s at meetings, he’s still asking questions because he’s still in the learning process himself.”
