i hate to say it, but i think mitch mustain of usc needs to be put somewhere in the mix. with all the playmakers around its hard not to. for JC to be put in this conversation he has to show me he can put up the numbers week to week.
Sorry, but Mitch Mustain shouldn't be anywhere near this list yet, and yes, JC deserves to be on this list waaaayyyy before Mustain does. I'll tell you why. When Mitch was a freshman, he was awful. He had 10 TD's with 9 picks, and he had the best running tandem in the nation to take all the pressure off him (McFadden and Felix Jones). Even though the team was winning, Mustain was so bad that they even benched him late in the year despite their winning streak.
Then he came down here to SoCal. Sat out a year, learned the offense, and then despite having the experience of playing in the SEC, and having a year to learn the offense, he was demoted to
4TH (!!!) string at one point this season because he
still couldn't grasp the pro-style offense (bye-bye spread offense) and he threw a ton of picks in practice. He eventually made his way up to #2, but even then, in 16 attempts this year, he threw 2 INT's.
And even with Mark Sanchez, who will be a top 10 pick, USC didn't open up their offense until late in the year, and he had a much greater understanding of the offense than Mitch.
So next year, Mitch might not even be the starting QB. They have a much better runner in Korp that they were very high on, and the top QB recruit in the nation in Matt Berkely, who has an absolute hose. Whoever gets the job is going to do a ton of handing off to their stable of stud running backs until they grasp enough of the offense so the coaches have confidence in them. So, I hate to sound like I'm jumping on you on your first post, but Mitch better
win the job before anyone even talks about him being a
starting QB. And as far as being in the conversation as one of the top QB's in the nation, not going to happen this year. Jimmy deserves to be on that list much more than Mitch...
