Angels saw no future past now. We saw a guy that could bring us now. And they gave y'all a possible future.

Makes sense to me considering his contract.

It may hurt us more than you if the youngster develops.

Eloy Jimenez Update:

With Gleyber Torres getting traded to NY, Jimenez is now the #2 prospect in the Cubs farm system. Last week, Eloy was named the the Midwest League POY; everyone could see that coming for months though as his stat line is insane:

.331 BA, 142 hits (in 132 games), 40 doubles, 3 triples, 14 home runs, and 81 RBI

Some might be wondering why he stayed in South Bend the entire year if he was that successful at the plate, but people need to remember he is only 19 and still needs to mature. This was definitely his first and last year in South Bend; if I had to guess, he'll start next year at high-A Myrtle Beach and finish the year at AA Tennessee. If he doesn't get traded, expect him to be a Chicago Cub in 2018 :)

With St louis losing yesterday, the Cubs clinched the NL Central for just the 4th time since it was created in 1994. other years were 2003, 2008, and 2009. They waited to celebrate tonight win or lose Thursday (good thing they ended up losing). Ended winning in extras with a walk off home run by unlikely hero Miguel Montero.

With today's 94th win the Cubs have the 12th most wins in a single season in franchise history.

Only 5 Cubs teams have ever won 100 games. 4 of those teams went to the world series (1906,07,10,35) only winning in 1907.

The lone team who didn't make playoffs was in 1909 and that team went 104-49. Most wins in a season was in 1906, that team was 116-36 and lost in the WS.

The last cubs WS champs were 1908 and that was the only team from 1906-10 that didn't win 100 games.

It will be interesting to see how the sports world handles the Cubs winning a Series. It's the last great story waiting to be told.

As a non-traditional Sox fan, I'll be happy for my long suffering northside friends. Plus 11 years of grief from me has earned them the right to experience what it's like to see a winner. The '05 Sox post season was easily my favorite sports moment(s) ever. Good luck Cubbies.

Its a complete cluster fuck in the NL wild card race. The Mets, Cards, and Giants are all tied at the top. I don't know who I would rather face; they all seem to be limping into the last week of regular season play. What I would really like to happen is for the Pirates to make a very late run as they are only 3.5 back. The Cards might be laid to rest this weekend as they begin a series with the Cubs tomorrow.

I'm hoping for a Pirates vs. Mets wild card lol.

As long as the Giants aren't in it, I'll be happy. The whole even year championship thing is freakin me out

I don't like any of them. Giants always seem to go on a run. Cards have done it, though I think they're relatively weak. Mets swept us because of their pitching, though they're without one of their big starters.

I just want to win.

Thanks. I used to live in Chicago but its been 20 years...I'm sure a lot has changed in Wrigleyville. I just can't wait to eat some great pizza!

Don't mess with The Bum in October. Good grief that guy is good.

Man up time, cubbies.

Cueto vs Lester Game 1 tomorrow. Lets get it!

Good news for the Cubs is they will only have to face Bumgarner once in the series if at all. Bochy said he has Samardzija and Moore to pitch games 2 and 3 with Bumgarner coming back for game 4. I'd expect to see Bumgarner in game 3 if the Giants are down 2-0.

Right. If they're facing elimination, I don't see the Giants sitting Bum game 3 vs Arrieta. He's playing.

My dream World Series has always been Cubs and RedSox. A series held in Wrigley and Fenway would be lovely.

I think the Giants win it here with Belt, Posey, and Pence up here in the bottom of the 12th.
