Cubs Fans...

Just think it's amusing. Hard to take trash talk seriously from the 4th place team in the AL central.

Oh I get it, but please don't be one of those guys who turns a single good season into a sense of imperviousness to trash talk.

*I'm not going to pile on anyone, tonight has to be a frustrating end to a great playoff run, and we can all relate to how that feels. Cubs are having a great season, and until the 27th out is recorded, it is still referred to in the present tense.

Sox tears are...well...irrelevant.

I don't hate the Sox or their fans. Just think the immediate jumping into this thread is kind of funny. Can't win? Celebrate your opponent's loss. Enjoy! :)

Irrelevant or not, I got to see my team win the world series. It was glorious.

Pirates game as well. That was a do or die game. So only the world series is "deep"?

It's mind blowing nowadays to think that not too long ago only 4 teams made the playoffs. The play in game has made it way more exciting.

Showing up for the league championship series and actually having a chance to win would help it qualify as a deep run.

So, just to clarify, can I feel happy for the games we've won? Or am I supposed to be sad all the time?

I don't much care for the play in game (even though it worked for the Cubs this year). Three game series would be better, IMO. But it's certainly exciting.

I'll take it back. I'm happy for the real cubs fans that their team made it this far. I just hate all of the cubs fans that don't give two shits about actual baseball. I hate how the media crowned them as a team of destiny prematurely.

I hope they're good for years, as you pointed out. You'll have a ton of fun watching them. I just hope their run is the same path as the 90s Jndians

Fair enough. I've been a fan since birth (1978). Not fair weather. I've lived through the prospects (Ty Griffin, Earl Cunningham, Lance Dickson, Jerome walton, Dwight Smith, Corey Patterson, hell Shawon Dunston). They werealk supposed to be saviors. Schwarber, Rizzo, Russell, Soler, and Baez are betterthan anyof them.

I'm just enjoying that this team has been built so well. I hope they break the long streak and think they can. Once they do, the floodgates will open.

ETA: excuse the typos. On my phone

May I ask the story behind him?

He was IU's best player during their CWS run, was their catcher. Flew through the minors on his bat. Has not refined his abilities at catcher enough to play there everyday. Only caught a handful of times throughout season. Has been ridiculous hitting the ball. If the Cubs were in the AL, he'd be a DH. Maddon wants his bat in the line up. Up until this series, and much more tonight and a little last night, has been hidden well at F7.

Thanks for the info. Remind me of when Carlos Delgado came up with Toronto as a young catcher and he was crushing the ball. Then they realized they brought him up to early, sent him back down for a few years to play 1st.
