'Victorian Village' unless you want to party all the time then go with high street.

What if I want to party on weekends but never weeknights? Then where?

Some of the potential roommates I've spoke to on skype say Victorian Villiage is for families. IDK if that's accurate or not, but two ppl said that.

I mean it's for people who can buy homes more times than not. I doubt that the majority of people have young children though. It's also one of the gayest neighborhoods in the midwest.

German Village strikes me as the more family-oriented neighborhood.

Lol, IDK if this stems from the on-going joke about Bryant/Smith photos, but I am straight.

No, it's one of the gayest neighborhoods in the midwest.

(I'm combining the adjacent Short North/Arena District/Italian Village/Victorian Village here...)

That's how most gentrified neighborhoods are created. Whites abandoned nearly all first-ring neighborhoods during "White Flight," and the poor minorities moved in and didn't have the wherewithal to maintain the great buildings. Beginning in the 1980's, another ostracized sector of society, gays, began to move in (because for obvious reasons the suburbanites disowned them).

Gay couples are on average more highly educated and more creative than their straight counterparts, and normally don't have kids. The result is two brave upper-class creative males having the spare income to restore old mansions and storefronts. It's amazing what a coat of paint can do. Once the place becomes hip enough, the yuppies start to show up with their money and voila...real estate boom and thriving urban neighborhood.

You'll be lucky, you missed 90% of the growing pains. The term "Short North" was once a pejorative and was once a police term for the area. In fact there used to be a prison in the Arena District up until the late 1990s:

Take a cab downtown. Arena district isn't far away from VV and isn't too bad.

I say we set up a fund so you can filter money into the OSU program and we can get them caught. We will need you to keep good records and all papers possible.

Lol. Well tonight it was haha. Cant beat The Goat!

Have you ever been to Flanagan's, out on Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road? If so, what did you think of it? I get the impression that it's probably an older crowd than you probably are used to.

I will be living near the intersection of W. Lakeview and N. High Street until August, 2014.

If you see a guy walking this adorable dog, holler:

She caught me looking at Bryant photos (italics).

She's student teaching in WI until June.

I got ya. Jobs and circumstances come an go. Good women don't. If you find one, don't let her go. Make it work. With that being said, from my limited knowledge of the situation, I woulda taken the job and convinced her to join me after the school season.

I've been in Columbus for ~ 26 hours now, so don't really know much yet, but this is what caught my eye:

Qdoba is better than Chipotle/Burrachos. Had never seen a Qdoba before.

OSU fans everywhere, lots of Buckeye yard flags.

Found a fitness center called 'Planet Fitness'. They advertised $10 per month fees for 24/7 access, and it sounded too good to be true so I went in to make sure it wasn't a reenactment of the facilities of the early Rocky movies. I was pleasantly surprised of how large and clean it was, plus they have tons of equipment and TVs. Signed up because it seemed like a no brainier, but I'm still skeptical of how they're turning a profit at $10 a month.

I need help with grocery stores. My hometown had a great wal-mart supercenter, so there was no reason to ever go anywhere else for anything. So far, I've seen 'Korgers', 'Luckys Market', and 'Giant Eagle'. Never heard of any of these. What's the scoop on them? Which is the best option?

Lots of hipsters, but I expected that. People seem genuinely nice so far. Took a stroll past football stadium/campus. Huge area. People love my dog around here. If I were a better looking man, he could be a real panty dropper, lol.

Yes - I looked at that list and shook my head. First time in the big city I guess, but Kroger? Really?
