So up for work and I flip it on espn2 to catch some of Mike and Mike. The end of sportsnation is on and it was the cheers and jeers part. And Cowherd gave 2 cheers for Notre Dame for being ahead of Alabama in the bcs standings. He also gave them credit for scheduling teams from major confrences that people have heard of, while Alabama and Oregon schedule games against cupcakes.

So yeah Cowherd compliments Notre Dame. What is this world coming to?

Cowherd is a goofshit contrarian that will say anything to move the dial.

I don't blame an entertainer for doing what they need to in order to get ratings, but he presents his views as incontrovertible fact. If everyone thought ND should be on top, he would scream and holler that we were a fraud.

He said the other day that "I'm not here to convince you I'm right, I'm here to start arguments." He walked it back and said he was there to present entertaining topics, but I
thought it was telling.

Douche.

Cowherd has repeatedly admitted that he is an entertainer and not an analyst. He has repeatedly referred to how he uses tons of stats and demographics to decide what to talk about. Bottom line is he does his homework and will only talk about things that he thinks "will move the needle". Consequently when ND is having a good season he will probably be on the bandwagon, but when they are having a bad season he will be the first to be "piling on". I take anything that Cowherd and Greenberg says with a grain of salt. However, I do find them both entertaining.

Cowherd is entertaining and that's why his salary is what it is. With that said, if his beloved USC Trojans were playing the NFC Pro Bowlers, he'd pick the Trojans for the W

Cowherd said pretty much this exact quote once, actually. He said that ESPN doesn't necessarily have a bias to the SEC, but they do have a bias to teams that win and when someone is winning the tone of the analyst and reporters could change drastically. So Cowherd praising Notre Dame now isn't entirely unexpected.

He has admitted before that LA is his honey hole market and it plays a role in selecting his discussion topics when asked why he gives SC so much coverage. I don't really like the guy, but at least he admits what he does is business and not journalism.

I do not dislike Coward I think he is a sharp cookie. Just hate that he usually bashes ND...maybe he is going to sing a new tune. =P

Herd just said on his show that if ND wins this weekend, he feels they should be #1 or at least #2 in the country, regardless of other teams success this weekend.

This hype is just making me more nervous.

If we beat Stanford, I see no one in the country that has a resume better than ours at this point in the season. With an unblemished record and the best resume, we should be 1 or 2 regardless of the other outcomes. I really don't care where we are ranked, as long as we keep winning.

.

The world is officially coming to an end. Although, I never thought Herd would be the harbinger of the apocalypse.

One thing about Colin, if you don't like what he says today, tune in tomorrow and if the wind has changed, he'll jump on board.

He'll never dish on USC very hard, too much of a homer for that.

This is exactly why I don't watch/listen to him anymore. People will get tired of him soon enough and he'll be off the air. I just find it absolutely hilarious that at the beginning of the season the widespread opinion of Notre Dame through the general media was irrelevance, and now only half way through the season, being 5-0 with a couple of solid 'W's and 2 nail biters, everyone wants a piece of the shepards pie. NFL films has gotten in on it, college gameday, Kirk Herbstreit, Mark May, and morons like Colin "Cow-terd", but I promise you if the team suffers a loss the hate will quickly resurface. They'll all say, "We saw it coming". I just enjoy watching the football team win every week and hopefully get better each time they play. Screw ESPN.

Maybe he's being honest (somewhat). It looks like it physically pains him to say positive things about Notre Dame. He always throws in a lot of prefacing phrases like "I have to give them credit" or "I didn't think we'd see this." It's like Cowherd is talking about a drunk guy swimming the 50 meter with duck boots on with regard to the Irish. It all seems like backhanded compliments from him.
