I hate to delve into politics, but no one state is a monolith. Twice now I've seen you say Minnesota is full of "libtards." If you look at an electoral map of Minnesota it's really only the Twin Cities and the area around Duluth that are deep blue, the rest of the state is pretty conservative. I get the U of M is in the Cities, but the outer lying suburbs are not radical strongholds.
Politics will poison your perception of a place and every place I've lived has had people on the far right, the far left, and everywhere in between. Some of the most "conservative" people I know are from Oregon and Washington, not places you would really associate with right wing politics. It happens.
