Kirby Smart, UGA
Mario Cristobal, Miami
Kalani Sitake, BYU
Jeff Brohm, UL
Kenny Dillingham, ASU
Clark Lea, Vanderbilt
Brent Key, GT
Rich Rodriguez, WVU

All alumni coaching their schools. I see five on that list that are going to be coveted on this coaching carousel.

Rich Rod is a great example of maybe why staying put is better than moving on. Look at the country roads it took to get him home again.

The Athletic had a whole article today talking about this (specifics in bold). Was quite interesting.

I have felt like, for years, the hiring of alumni in college or former players in the pros doesn't pay off the way most fans think it will. There are some exceptions here for sure, but to me, I feel like everyone on that list should stay right where they are.

My PSU family and friends have increased the chirping in our texts. They seem to think there is real smoke around Hartline being the lead candidate or favorite to get the PSU job...

I just can't see it. They could be in for a long playoff run. Not to mention, he is OSU to the core. Why would you leave for PSU? Unless maybe Hartline is doing this to get leverage to be the Associate HC or HC in waiting time thing. Thoughts?

I think they should hire Hartline. He could be there Freeman. Schedule is also very nice for a first time head coach, can roll out of bed and win 9 games. Heck he’ll face OSU less than we did for MF.

Being the head coach at PSU is significantly better than being an OC anywhere.

You leave for PSU for the same reason that any coordinator leaves to captain his own ship. And PSU is a nice ship.

Maybe he wants to be a HC sooner rather than later? I don't see Day going anywhere for a while.

Assistant to the head coach.

In all honesty, I think most fans are tired of seeing OSU get 2-3 five star WRs each recruiting class. I think most would like to see him leave.

I agree that most would like to see him leave. In the short term, I'm not convinced it would matter much to pOSU's WR recruiting. The machine has already been built.

It would probably take a couple of down years in WR performance on the field for it to start impacting recruiting.

Not to mention, going on to be a successful HC at another big time job makes him way more likely to get the OSU job down the line whenever Day moves on compared to being the OC forever.

Va Tech 247 site sounds cautiously optimistic they are trending towards a deal for James Franklin

VA Tech: One of the cooler entrances in college football, paired with one of the most boring coaches in college football.

Penn State might actually get some talented receivers then? That could be scary.

Brice has Pat Fitzgerald as a candidate for PSU reportedly.

LOL
I’ll eat a sock if Pat Fitzgerald is the next PSU coach. Brice and the Football Scoop guys have some weird affection for Fitzgerald where they are always hyping him up. He won 3 or less games in 3 of his last 4 years.

The Board of Supervisors, of which the Governor appoints….

I've always heard that one of the most important factors a prospective coaching candidate should consider is ..... are the President, Athletic Director and Head Coach all on the same page.

LSU has no President and a toothless Athletic Director. Some flashing warning lights.

Didn't Kelly indicate that there was alignment at LSU that wasn't present at Notre Dame?

Weird.

yeah Urbie was in the media other day questioning the involvement of the governor in the firing of BK
I thought Woodward fired BK. The real question is why would Woodward be allowed anywhere near the next hiring. His track record is pretty abysmal for football

“The guy (Woodward) here now that wrote that contract cost A&M $77 million. Right now, we have a $53 million liability and we are not doing that again. Maybe we should let President Trump pick it. He loves winners…Scott Woodward is not selecting the next coach. Hell, I’d let Donald Trump select him before I’d let him do it. The Board of Supervisors is going to come up with a committee and find us a coach.”

Just to be clear, Woodward had already been gone from A&M for a couple of years when Fisher got his extension. However, given how he structured the original deal with Jimbo and with BK, it's probably likely that Woodward would've pulled the trigger on the extension had he still been there.

The governor of the state is taking questions about a football coaching search. Priorities. His accent is hilarious

The not wanting to have large buyouts will not sit well with top coaches; especially with their history of firing coaches quickly.
