It seems your point is that it’s ND’s fault this happens. Other ND coaches have accomplished more. with less from the university. Which says to me the problem isn’t ND. It’s Freeman.

Yet every coach since the late 90s have lost multiple games like this

My point is Notre Dame handicaps itself with academic requirements along with not paying recruits/players, a combination that is hard to overcome, no matter who the head coach is. College football is now semi-pro and the highest bidders are getting the top kids.

Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss) - 4 million buyout
Jeff Brohm? (Louisville) - 1 milling buyout... now were talking
Eliah Drinkwitz?(Mizzo) - 5 million buyout
Josh Heupel (Tenn) - 6 million buyout

I’ll bite.
Drinkwitz will be looking for a move this offseason possibly after he loses Cook and Burden.

If he wins 10+ games again at Mizzou, and makes the playoffs we could certainly do worst.

Of realistic options. He would certainly interest me.

Guys I am not talking NIL deals... I am talking upfront money that has hurt us with guys dating back to Reggie Bush. Look at how many players we have lost due to them "taking the bag". We are already limited with guys who qualify academically, but now you throw in this pay to play era, it makes it extremely difficult to be elite.

This presents the Bo Pelini conundrum. You don't fire a guy who has 9-10 wins every year to replace him with an unknown. If you can get Saban (never happening) or someone of that ilk, fine. I contemplate it. But you don't can a guy and replace him with an unknown, which is what Campbell is.

so it's better to have a guy that will prolly always win only 9-10 games vs some who we're sure can at least do that and possibly more based on what he's done with a lot less?

i hope freeman pulls through this year, but have got to stop buying a few wins for this year by trading wins from future years. we need to develop talent, specifically at qb. angeli or minchey should've been starting this year.

If Dabo gets let go he is the only viable option. Theres No “real” candidates that would take job unless ND is going to pay some absurd amount in a buyout that would be a sure fire upgrade. Plus Dabo hates the portal and we can’t really use it to its full potential anyway.

Look at Nebraska and Bo Pelini. You have no clue how Campbell will do under the bright lights, and he's gone 20-20 in the last three years.

Iowa State has never won a conference title.
Iowa State routinely had 2-4 win seasons before Matt Campbell.

I have no idea if he'd be a good fit for Notre Dame. But he's done about as well as any Iowa State fan could've dreamt of.

While that may be true, that doesn't mean he'd do well at ND.

I'm of the opinion is that he's fine where he is, but that he would not be an upgrade to the current staff.

Taking into consideration his age, results, religion and ties to the University, Urban Meyer is the person best suited to lead ND to win a national championship in the next 5 years. Surely the Lord can forgive him of sins after proper repentance and delivery of a crystal ball or whatever they call that new trophy?
