No proven, big name Head Coach would leave their program for Notre Dame... Why would you when Notre Dame has academic requirements and boosters who do not pay the players. In this new era of semi-pro college football, I don't see us ever winning another title... Ohio State has a "20 million dollar roster" in Columbus and are up 35-0 on their MAC opponent. Money talks and Notre Dame is not about that life...
Notre Dame is paying players to come to Notre Dame

They are paying.. Pete has mentioned that they can compete on any level with NIL.. that’s not their hurdle.

Bowden said the biggest issue they have with recruits is that they have to go to class at Notre Dame. That’s it..

Attending class is a deal breaker for more than you think.. especially in the top 50.

They want to go to an NFL farm team basically..

For all we know they've tried, but they should really sell the easiest degrees that ND offers. I have no clue what majors those would be, though.

American studies, Film/Television/Theater. Could turn a couple minors here and there into majors, could allow players to take online courses...

A title is not worth players not attending class. No way. We all have our limit, and that's mine. I don't believe the problem is bad recruiting, though.

5 stars are often sociology majors. With all of the tutors the best knockoff course are ones with final papers/projects and not tests. Easy to fake it with a tutor guiding you.

The coaching carousel sucks this year honestly. Besides Kiffin, no one really stands out. Too much movement recently to find a quality head coach and it seems like the hot upcoming coordinators aren't around right now.

Is Sociology one of the easiest majors at ND? I listened to an interview with Mark Sanchez and he said that several players at USC majored in Sociology because of how easy it was, but I wasn't sure if that was just a USC thing.

I'd take Brohm
The issue here seems obvious to me. Born and raised in Louisville. Played at UL. Began his coaching career there as an assistant from 2003-2008. Left Purdue to take the head coaching job there, which he's now had for all of 16 games. You're then going to ask him to take the fish bowl of fish bowl jobs after the program just fired a head coach after three years while possessing two of the highest paid coordinators in America.

You can throw a lot of money at him and assure him this adorable patient fan base is all he's ever going to want, but I want to know why he makes this move. They love him there and the worst that could happen to him there most likely is he gets to be Frank Beamer.

Sure, you'd take him. I'd probably take him too. Does he want to come or even consider it would be the appropriate question. I'm going to guess no.

I can’t believe you guys are ready to bail. We just had one of our biggest wins. Now if he keeps throwing Riley in there then I’ll get worried.

Hard pass on Rhule he is a .500 coach in college and even worse in the NFL. Okay they flipped one 5 star QB and signed a top in state TE other than that it’s a bunch of super low 4 star and high 3 star guys

I’m not ready to bail at all but it’s gotta get better, I just don’t know how.

I’m not looking to replace Freeman, but that guy can coach. He had Temple winning 10 games a year, Temple. He also took over a train wreck that was Baylor and had them successful. NFL is irrelevant when it comes to college coaching in my opinion.

I think we can all agree that win has been tainted , especially by that fact we didn't improve from week 1-2 which every coach says is the biggest week for that. Freemans pressers are ramblings of someone trying to spread the blame around and not take accountability to fix the problem.

Why would Rhule leave Nebraska? Honestly asking
Exactly. He's got the QB and the kid is an NU legacy. They're just as hungry to be good again and are not going to restrict him. God only knows what kind of perks he's getting (car, phone, country club membership). Fickell has all you can possibly want with perks from Wisconsin. I was stunned at his contractual terms.

Look, it's a message board, right? Week after a loss. A real bad G5 loss. Again. So now it's starting printing money in the Fratelli's basement and start conducting inquiries via back channels. Fire up the auto dial for Meyer, Gruden, Tom Clements. The options don't have to be plausible. Just start forking out hypothetical dollars to candidates that wouldn't have touched the job three years ago when Kelly left nor would they now.

I get it. Pete B. can certainly ask should the time come, but I'm guessing it'll be a hard "no" all the way around.

You're right, and the fact he was even hired in the NFL is good enough in terms of a feather in the cap. He absolutely can coach, and plenty of programs had a chance to get him out of Carolina. Nebraska got him when the timing fit for both parties.

Don't forget the circumstances under which he took that Baylor job too.

We'll see how Nebraska does in Columbus next month. I don't believe they play Michigan or Penn State this season either.

Its a valid question. I guess the answer would be...because its Notre Dame

FWIW the path to a championship is probably easier at ND than it is in the Big 10.
Rhule is rumored to have $60m buyout. I think that means is staying in Lincoln until he's no longer welcome.

And here I thought Ohio State was going to come calling Marcus home one day. Funny how NIU made THAT problem go away fast too. LOL.

I'd take Kiffen, Rhule, or the Mizzou coach. I'm sure there are others but those 3 I'm certain on. Rhule would be a tough pull from Nebraska. He's waking up his own Husker echoes and that fanbase is rabid, and turning around Nebraska would make him a legend and it looks like he may be doing it.

Someone has to find out what the deal was with Hartman and now Riley. Is Freeman just walking by them at practice whispering “if you turn it over I’ll kill you?” Like what could make 22-24 year old QB gun shy all of a sudden. It’s probably not a great comparison but as a former baseball player, it didn’t matter who my coach was I didn’t suddenly forget how to field a ground ball

I think it's pressure on the individuals and inexperienced coaches trying to support them.

Kiffen sure would be fun. Plus we'd get a Weis back under the Dome!

It sounds like Leonard never really was that good of a passer during his career.
